  • Patent number: 5002016
Abstract: A device for the collection of eggs includes a number of egg conveyor belts lying above one another, an egg discharge belt and a device disposed between the egg conveyor belts and the egg discharge belt for transferring eggs from the egg conveyor belts to the egg discharge belt. The transfer device includes an essentially vertically arranged endless egg conveyor which at the top and bottom thereof is guided over reversing mechanisms. The egg conveyor has a first part which can move up past the ends of egg conveyor belts, and a second part which can move down past the egg discharge belt. The egg conveyor is provided with egg accommodation elements disposed abutting one after the other in the lengthwise direction of the egg conveyor, the egg accommodation elements being essentially U-shaped, when viewed in the transverse direction of the egg conveyor, and open towards the outside, and extending over the width of the egg conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5000123
Abstract: An anti-tipping feed dish formed with a truncated conical exterior wall coaxially defining a feed bowl cavity arranged interiorly of the dish defining a feed bowl floor with a bowl floor spaced from the feed bowl floor defining a lower cavity coaxially arranged with the feed bowl cavity which in turn defines an enclosed cavity capturing a predetermined quantity of weighted materials such as concrete therewithin. Modifications of the instant invention include the bowl floor mounting a series of suction cups to enhance securement of the bowl to a support surface wherein a further embodiment of the invention utilizes selectively reversible suction cups to permit selective removal thereof relative to the bowl and further providing usage of a support bowl frictionally engaging slidably receiving a feed bowl therewithin. In situations where the food dish is not placed on a support surface, a metal chain link has been firmly placed in the exterior wall so as the food dish may be staked if added securement is needed.

  • Patent number: 4996947
Abstract: A feeder for goldfinches comprising a hollow body for receiving and retaining feed, at least one perch on and exterior to the body, and a feeding opening positioned below and cooperating with the perch so that the opening is accessible only to a gold finch feeding upside down. Since the goldfinch is able to feed while hanging upside down and the housefinch cannot, the feeder accommodates the goldfinch and excludes other birds including the housefinch. The invention further comprises a method of attracting goldfinches and excluding housefinches comprising providing a feeder according to the invention, filling it with the appropriate goldfinch feed and hanging it.

  • Patent number: 4995334
Abstract: An aquarium-terrarium tank designed to provide a semi-aquatic animal with a natural environment. A shortened side panel enables an over the side filter to operate effectively while permitting a reduced water level to be maintained within the tank. A dry, land area may then be provided for the animal within the tank without the danger of escape. In one embodiment, the opening above the lowered side wall is restricted by the permanent addition of at least one panel affixed between the top edge of the lowered side wall and the edge of the adjacent full size wall such that it is in the same plane as the lowered side wall. In a further embodiment, the closure consists of a removable panel containing a cutout of appropriate size to accommodate the size of the filter selected.

  • Patent number: 4989546
Abstract: A pet refuge is disclosed which may be installed in a window opening. The pet refuge includes a projecting enclosure which extends into the outdoors and which is partially constructed of screening material to form a protected pet dwelling space. This allows a pet animal to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the out of doors. In a region adjacent the window opening, the projecting enclosure has a closed threshold wall which seals the protected pet dwelling space with respect to the indoors. The closed threshold wall includes a door which is openable at will by the pet to permit the pet to pass between the indoors and the protected pet dwelling space within the screened enclosure. Thus, the indoor area is sealed with respect to the outdoor area so as to prevent loss of heat or air conditioning from the indoor area while preventing entry of outside elements, such as wind, rain, drafts, dust, or the like, into the indoor area.

  • Patent number: 4989547
Abstract: A liquid and solid dispenser apparatus and method having a motor, a timer, a feed dispenser and a scent dispenser. The liquid dispenser of one embodiment utilizes suction created on the hollow motor shaft and a hollow shaft extension, extending into a scent dispenser filled with scent, once the outlets begin to spin by way of operation of the motor and the motor shaft, so that centrifugal force dispenses scent from the outlets and draws the fluid through the shaft. As a result, scent is deposited on feed which are both dispersed at the same time. Another embodiment utilizes a torus shaped ring for containing scent attached to the top of the motor shaft, thereby eliminating the shaft extension. As the torus shaped dispenser is rotated the scent is mixed and is dispersed through flow plugs. Depending on the size of the removable attachable flow plugs used, more or less scent can be disbursed by this method.

  • Patent number: 4987860
Abstract: A device is described particularly suited for the bathing of pet cats and small dogs. Research has indicated that a cat bath which is made of transparent material and so dimensioned and designed to permit the cat to grasp an upper section of said bath with its forepaws tends to pacify the animal. In addition, the bath has variable size patterns which serves as a aperture through which the cat can put its head but not its shoulders. The bathing container has an agitator and a ring spray which keeps the water in motion about the animal. Research has indicated that the width and breadth of said cat bath must be less than the length of the average cat and the height of the container approximately the length of an average cat. When the animal is placed into the container and liquid admitted, the animal stands on its rear paws with its forepaws grasping the upper section of the bath and its head out of the aperture.

  • Patent number: 4986220
Abstract: A game feeder includes a feed container having a funnel shaped outlet immediately above a distributor mounted for rotation on the end of a motor shaft. When the motor runs, the plate spins and broadcasts feed around the feeder. The distributor includes an inlet having a member extending across the path of movement of feed from the container outlet toward the distributor. When the distributor turns, any trash extending down from the container outlet is cut or abraded by the spinning member. The distributor includes one or more outlets having a swinging gate providing a closure for the outlet in a stopped or resting condition of the motor and preventing movement of feed unless the motor is running. When the motor turns and the distributor spins, the gate opens by centrifugal force allowing feed to pass through the distributor outlet.

  • Patent number: 4981106
Abstract: An automatic pet feeder is shown, havin a flat cylinder-like feeding tray and a timer, which is a 24-hour clock. The clock has many slits at the contour of the face to stick the pins in for transferring the turning motion of the clock to the feeding tray. The feeding tray has a wheel-like carrousel inside the case, which is sectioned with separators into small feed boxes, with as many juts sticking out in even length to the center of the circle for receiving the turning motion of the clock which is placed inside the case on the floor. The feed boxes have flaps to drop the feed from the carrousel when the feed box passes over an opening which is made on the floor of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4979469
Abstract: A portable pet potty and a wetting wall for male dogs or the like. The potty includes an elongate trough for receiving animal waste and a pair of pet constraining blocks to the left and right of the trough. A set of latching bars connect the trough to the blocks and, together, the trough, blocks and bars define barricaded areas on the left and right sides of the trough which the pet will avoid. Consequently, the pet will straddle both the trough and the barricaded areas so that its body will be precisely aligned over the trough, preventing accidents. The position of the blocks relative to the trough is adjustable for accommodating differently sized pets. The wetting wall is formed of several panel pieces including a left corner piece and a right corner piece each of which provides a floor, a back wall and a left wall in the left corner piece and a right wall in the right corner piece. The floors slope toward their centers where a central hole directs waste fluid into a removable drawer below the hole.
