  • Patent number: 7631543
Abstract: A method for determining the composition and water salinity of a multi-component mixture of a gas and at least one liquid, including water, in a pipe (1), the method comprising the following steps: a. electromagnetic phase measurements are performed between two receiving antennas (4) located at different distances from a sending antenna (3), b. based on an empirically determined constant(s) and the above measurements, the effective and imaginary dielectric constants are determined, c. the mixture density is determined, d. the temperature and pressure are determined e. based on the knowledge of densities, effective dielectric constants and imaginary dielectric constants of the components of the fluid mixture and the results of the above steps a-d, the volume fractions of the gas and liquid or liquids of the fluid mixture and salinity of the water are calculated. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7621182
Abstract: A fuel level detector has a float connected to an arm that rotates a pivot pin. The pivot pin rotates in a hole in the wall of the detector, and the hole is sealed by a sleeve. One end of the sleeve is sealed to the housing of the detector surrounding the hole, and the opposite end of the sleeve is sealed around the outer surface of the pin.

  • Patent number: 7607340
Abstract: In a protector (100) for protecting a detecting portion (11) of a sensor element (10) of a gas sensor (1), the opening area of individual inner introduction holes (130) and (140) formed in an inner protector (120) is 3.5 mm2 or less. In this manner, the amount and size of water droplets able to pass through the inner introduction holes (130) and (140) and to adhere to the sensor element (10) is restricted. In order to ensure good gas replaceability between the interior and the exterior of the inner protector (120) so as to attain quick gas response, the total opening area of the inner introduction holes (130) and (140) is 10 mm2 or more.

  • Patent number: 7603886
Abstract: A breath alcohol-measuring device for breathing gas sampling has a mouthpiece (2), for receiving the exhaled breathing air (1) of a test subject, provided with a first flow diaphragm (3). A first pressure sensor (6) is connected to the mouthpiece via a first gas line upstream of the flow diaphragm (3). An alcohol sensor (4) is connected to the mouthpiece (2) via an inlet channel downstream of the flow diaphragm (3) and to a sampling system (5) for a breathing gas sample from the breathing air (1) via a second gas line. The second gas line between the alcohol sensor (4) and the sampling system (5) has a second flow restriction (diaphragm 7) and is connected to a second pressure sensor (9). An evaluating and control unit (8) receives the measured signals of the pressure sensors (6, 9) and of the alcohol sensor (4) and actuates the sampling system (5).

  • Patent number: 7594434
Abstract: A downhole tool system includes a downhole tool operably positionable within a wellbore and a sensor positioned within the downhole tool. The sensor has a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, the sensor is responsive to RF interrogation. In the second mode, the sensor is not responsive to RF interrogation. The sensor is operable to transition from the first mode to the second mode upon the occurrence of a predetermined level of erosion of the downhole tool proximate the sensor. A detector is operably positionable relative to the downhole tool and in communicative proximity to the sensor. The detector interrogates the sensor to determine whether the predetermined level of erosion has occurred.

  • Patent number: 7506550
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for assessing the condition of at least one circulating band in a papermaking machine including a permeability measuring device, a moisture measuring device, a fiber web moisture measuring device, an evaluator, a reel-up and an other moisture measuring device. The permeability measuring device measures the permeability of the at least one circulating band. The moisture measuring device measures the moisture contained in the at least one circulating band. The fiber web moisture measuring device measures the moisture of the fiber web. The evaluator combines the permeability, the moisture of the at least one circulating band and the moisture of the fiber web to determine the condition of the at least one circulating band. The other moisture measurement device is coupled to the reel-up, and takes a moisture measurement of the fiber web made by the papermaking machine.
