Abstract: A mascara brush comprises a core formed from a helical twist and a plurality of bristles fixed to the core over a portion extending over an axial length L of the helical twist and comprising a succession of n turns. The plurality of bristles comprises a first plurality of bristles termed radial bristles. The core has an upper portion for fixing to a wand of a mascara applicator. The brush is characterized in that the plurality of bristles further comprises at least one second plurality of bristles termed axial bristles since they extend parallel to the axial direction. The presence of axial bristles in the brush can broaden mascara formulation possibilities.

Abstract: A wound retractor device (1) comprises a distal ring member (2) for insertion into a wound opening (3), a proximal ring member (4) for location externally of the wound opening (3), and four strap members (5) extending between the proximal ring member (4) and the distal ring member (2). The four separate strap members (5) are axially movable relative to the distal ring member (2) and relative to the proximal ring member (4). The distal ring member (2) comprises four slots (6), with each strap member (5) positioned extending through a slot (6). The slots (6) thus act as passageways through which the strap members (5) may extend, and in this manner the slots (6) guide movement of the strap members (5) relative to the distal ring member (2). The proximal ring member (4) also comprises four slots (7) which act as passageways to guide movement of the strap members (5) relative to the proximal ring member (4).

Abstract: A curling apparatus employed for curling hair comprises a shaft which hair is coiled round; a stopper having a substantially C-shaped section, the stopper being disposed outside the shaft detachably; and a threaded engagement device which is disposed outside the stopper, and yet threaded to the shaft, the curling apparatus being configured in such a manner that turning/moving the threaded engagement device with the hair on a root side fastened to the shaft and a tip of the hair guided to the side of the threaded engagement device allows the hair to be spirally coiled round the shaft.

Abstract: A device for separating and curling eyelashes may include a heater member and at least one row of projecting elements defining spaces configured to receive eyelashes. The projecting elements may be configured to separate the eyelashes. The heater member and the row of projecting elements may be configured such that the projecting elements selectively either separate the eyelashes without the eyelashes contacting the heater member, or curl the eyelashes while subjecting the eyelashes to heat from the heater member.

Abstract: A hair holding device including hingedly connected first and second body members each including hair gripping portions adapted to be squeezed by a user whereby the hair gripping portions come into contact with gathered strands of a user's hair. The device further includes a friction-type adjustment mechanism coaxially arranged with respect to the hinge for causing the hair gripping portions to remain at a point at which the hair gripping portions are squeezed together by a user. Optionally, the device may include squeezable release handles or other release mechanism, as well as a torsion spring for biasing the hair gripping portions into either an open or a closed position.

Abstract: A brush for styling hair has a handle connected to a head with the head having a longitudinal axis and a number of stationary teeth and a number of movable teeth. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth both are arranged in a number of rows. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth are aligned with one another in a first position. The movable teeth traverse an amount in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis to a second position. The movable teeth in the second position are misaligned relative to the stationary teeth. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth tension hair disposed therethrough.

Abstract: A comb-carrying container is designed for applying substance by sequential action. The container has a hollow comb with a shaft, and a cap-like member formed at the lower end of the shaft, and a laminated container body consisting of an outer layer and an inner layer peelable therefrom and having an opened neck portion, to which the cap-like member is fitted, such that the liquid in the container may be discharged from the teeth of the comb through the shaft. In the present invention, the shaft 32 and the cap-like member 21 is separated each other, and a pump cylinder 11 is depending from the cap-like member 21 to the laminated container body 1, and a stem 41 is depending from the shaft 32 into the pump cylinder 11. A cylindrical piston 44 is attached at the lower end portion of the stem.

Abstract: A dental floss device includes a handle having a head piece and a disposable holder for a length of dental floss. The holder includes a base portion and a pair of spaced-apart jaws extending from the base and which extend to embrace the head piece of the handle when the holder is in a correct alignment configuration with respect to the handle. The device has an interlock which ensures that the holder can be interengaged with the head piece only when the holder is correctly aligned with the head piece. The interlock includes a head interlock part provided by interlock grooves and a holder interlock part provided by corresponding interlock tongues. There are two interlock grooves and corresponding interlock tongues which slidably interengage when the holder is correctly aligned with the head piece If the holder is turned so that it is not correctly aligned with the head piece, the interlock tongues of the holder prevent engagement of the holder with the head piece.

Abstract: A threading unit for threading a thread through holes of a sheet-like flat member, including an upper block (2) and a lower block (3) mating with each other and each having formed therein a discontinuous vessel having apertures open on the respective mating surfaces. The upper and lower blocks, when joined together, have their discontinuous vessels connected to each other to complete a continuous vessel through which a thread is threaded. The upper and lower blocks are each split into a first upper piece (2A) and a second upper piece (2B) and a first lower piece (3A) and a second lower piece (3B), respectively, along the parting face. Each split has on its parting face a lengthwise cut half of the discontinuous vessel. The sheet-like flat member is sandwiched between the mating faces of the upper and lower blocks (2) and (3) with its holes coinciding with the apertures of the upper and lower blocks.

Abstract: A hair styling tool includes a body, a cylinder extending from the body, the cylinder rotatable relative to the body, a motor for rotating the cylinder, a heater to heat the cylinder, and a styling arm pivotally attached to the body. The hair styling tool may have a generally clam shell configuration, wherein the styling arm is movable between an open position in which the styling arm does not contact the cylinder and a closed position in which the styling arm contacts the cylinder. The styling arm may also include a brush head with fixed or retractable bristles and/or a smoothing plate.

Abstract: A hair iron can give hair a sufficient amount of negative ions. The hair iron has a grip, and a hair-care section connected to the grip, having a heater for generating heat to hair for hair dressing. Further, it has a negative ion generator which generates negative ions due to discharge around an electrode therein to emit them toward hair held by the hair-care section. The hair-care section has a bar-like shape, and the heater is fixed to an outer surface of the bar-like shape. Then, by winding hair to the hair care section in the hair iron, hair dressing can be performed efficiently.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for rolling a lock of hair, the device comprising: a deformable curler extending along a longitudinal axis, capable of taking up a first configuration enabling the lock of hair to be rolled up on the curler, and a second configuration in which at least a fraction of the length of the curler presents a radial dimension that is smaller than in the first configuration so as to facilitate extraction of the curler from the lock that has been rolled up in this way; and a control member enabling the curler to be changed from the first configuration to the second configuration.

Abstract: An eyelash curler made of a polymeric material such as plastic or of a non-temperature conducting, light but sturdy and durable material comprising a head section and a body section. The head section includes a curling component having a back side and a front side where an eyelash to be curled is introduced. The curling component has a metal blade at its forming member to form better curls than a plastic blade. The lower end of the body section serves as the handle for the device. A push button controls the curling component and is situated at a position opposite the front side of the curling component thereby preventing the push button from contacting the face of a user.

Abstract: A flossing device having internal floss feed in which floss is advanced from a storage chamber inside the handle of the device, through feed gears, to a pair of spaced apart tines. Spent floss is returned through the return gears, the return drive gear having a greater diameter than the feed drive gear, thus ensuring the floss remains taut between the tines. An integral cutter allows the spent floss to be cut off and discarded. The cover over one or both sets of gears may be open at the top and bottom to allow cleaning of the gears. A flexible tile may be included over the aperture through which the floss exits the storage chamber to prevent water incursion therein. A floss advance lever advances the floss by a single action when pressed forward, which creates and maintains sufficient tensions on the floss resulting in taut and snug floss between the tines. Optionally, the flossing head has a vibratory device to aid in the flossing action.

Abstract: A system for applying nail polish to a nail, the system including a container having a wall and within the wall of the container is a plurality of compartments, each compartment configured for retaining a spray-on container for nail polish. The container may include a lid with a handle. The container may include a rotating member for rotating each compartment to an opening which is located either in the wall of the container or in the lid. The handle of the lid is engaged to the rotating member and when the handle is rotated, the rotating member rotates accordingly. This system may be used in combination with a nail clip for protecting the skin and cuticle of a finger or toe while exposing the nail.

Abstract: Attachable, individual curls create desired hair styles by attaching required curls to a patron's head. Curls are formed from natural and/or synthetic hair, have any desired color or size. Curls are offered individually or in a kit containing all curls required for a desired hairdo, including, but not limited to hair-weft, French, spiral, ribbon, fountain-shaped, braided, and fan-shaped curls. A kit may contain curls of one or assorted colors and may be decorated with, for example, sparkles, flowers, bows, jewels, other jewelry items, thematic decorations for various days of celebration. Curls may be disposable or reusable. Kits may contain curls with accessory attachment means and decorative items. If desired, kits and/or individual curls may be purchased with photos of and directions for achieving a desired hairdo. Curls are formed by shaping one end of a sized weft as desired, and securing the individual hairs of the other end.

Abstract: A method of mounting a hairpiece including a hairpiece strip of flexible sheet material and hairpiece strands secured to the strip using an anchor tube, includes the steps of providing anchor tube; parting wearer hair along a part line; placing the hairpiece strip against the part line; piercing the hairpiece strip to form a first hair port; drawing a first bundle of wearer hair strands outwardly through the first hair port; fitting the first bundle into the anchor tube and advancing the anchor tube along the first bundle into close proximity with the hairpiece strip; looping the first bundle back toward the strip and outward again through the anchor tube; tying the first bundle to the anchor tube; and crimping the anchor tube to engagingly grip the first bundle and thereby secure the hairpiece strip relative to the wearer scalp.

Abstract: An improved single-handed flossing device is provided which allows a user to use a high strength floss in order to obtain a relatively high floss tension between two tines of the device. The flossing device comprises a housing within which a floss supply, floss pathways, and a take-up mechanism are disposed. Actuation of the take up mechanism advances floss from the supply and through the pathways. The floss exits the housing and is exposed between a pair of housing tines. The exposed portion of floss is used by the user during flossing. A stop mechanism disposed between the supply floss and the take-up mechanism selectively restrains floss from being advanced. When the stop mechanism is engaged, actuation of the take-up mechanism applies tension to floss. The floss preferably has a relatively high strength, and the flossing device is configured in order to accommodate and capitalize on the characteristics of such high strength floss.
