  • Patent number: 8795140
Abstract: A starting block for swimming equipped with a single curved surface to facilitate track starts while reducing the trip hazard of such a surface. This allows for safer mounting from rear and side steps and removes undesirable gaps in the top surface of the starting block. A pliable embodiment of said curved surface can modify the distance of the curvature from the leading edge of the starting block to adapt to different swimmer needs. An apparatus to obtain said distance for a given swimmer from a meet management system to modify the pliable embodiment for quick change during time-constrained events such as meets.

  • Patent number: 8784287
Abstract: The present invention relates to an exercise device that can function as a rolling exercise device. It comprises an elongate member that has a first handle assembly secured to its first end and a second handle assembly secured to its second end. The handle assemblies include a base that is rotatably secured to a handle support structure. The handle assemblies also include a handle for gripping. The handle assemblies further function as wheels on either side of the elongate member that allows the exercise device to roll. In addition, the handle assemblies can be removed from the ends of the elongate member and the assemblies can be mutually joined in a second configuration that does not include the elongate member. The second configuration can also be rolled along a surface by a user gripping the handles and applying a force that causes the base of each handle assembly to rotate.

  • Patent number: 8758205
Abstract: A reversibly slide-swingable balance-training apparatus includes a base unit, a transmission unit mounted in the base unit and providing a movement-constraining eccentric shaft and a power-maintaining rotary member for rotating the movement-constraining eccentric shaft continuously, one or a pair of linkages each having a first link pivotally connected to the movement-constraining eccentric shaft of the transmission unit, a second link pivotally coupled between the first link and the base unit and a third link pivotally connected to the second link, and a platform pivotally connected to the first link and third link of each linkage. Subject to the oscillation motion of the links of the linkage counteracting the postures of the user and the functioning of the movement-constraining eccentric shaft and the continuation of the energy of the power-maintaining rotary member, the platform is reversibly slide-swinging for best balance training.

  • Patent number: 8702571
Abstract: The present invention relates to a stair exercise device for simulating stair climbing, the device having a plurality of steps which are activated by the weight of a person walking up them. A stationary platform at the base of the stair exercise device sends a signal to a controller to bring the exercise device to a controlled stop when an operator steps onto the platform. The steps of the exercise device stop in a predetermined location when the exercise device comes to a controlled stop, ensuring proper step location to allow the operator to easily enter and exit the exercise device. Steps have a step platform of a different color than the risers between steps to aid in foot placement.

  • Patent number: 8602952
Abstract: An elastic resistance band that is fabricated by placing two end couplers on each end of a section of elastic resistance material. A pre-tensioned force is applied by incorporating a rigid tensioning member between the two end couplers of the resistance band. The resistance material is stretched during the assembly process, placing the material in a pre-tensioned state. By pre-tensioning the material, the resistance band then provides a more linear force to the end user. The rigid tensioning member is a telescoping assembly, wherein the resistance band is placed within an interior section of the telescoping assembly. The telescoping assembly comprises a plurality of telescoping tubular members slideably engaged with each other. An expansion end wall aperture and an interior surface of a groove are provided to retain an axial linear motion between telescoping tubular members.
