    Abstract: A method for preventing the adherence of oil to sucker rods or other surfaces in oil wells, by coating the surfaces contacting the oil with a film of a polymer that prevents or reduces oil adherence. Among materials effective in reducing oil adherence is an oleophobic film formed by complexing carboxymethylcellulose with salts of polyvalent metals such as aluminum, chromium and iron.
