  • Patent number: 11018541
Abstract: A multi-phase electric machine having plurality of windings are mounted on the stator core and define a plurality of phases with each phase having at least two parallel windings. A standard pitch is defined between each pole of each phase, the pitch being a common circumferential spacing between corresponding slots of each pole. Each of the windings has a position change end loop at the same location, wherein the position change end loops define a non-standard pitch to thereby change the relative positions of the parallel windings in the slots. At each set of such position change end loops, the windings defining a greater pitch extend over the windings defining a lesser pitch.

  • Patent number: 11005321
Abstract: The current invention relates to a magnetic pole assembly, providing flux to an air gap, comprising one or more magnetic pole pieces and one or more sources of magnetic flux. Said one or more sources of magnetic flux lie adjacent to the axial faces and circumferential faces and one of the radially inner face or radially outer face of each magnetic pole piece. Thereby to allow flux created by said one or more sources of magnetic flux to enter the one or more magnetic pole pieces in order to focus the magnetic flux of said pole piece towards and out of the radial surface not having a source of magnetic flux adjacent thereto. Such an arrangement, increases the flux density in the air gap adjacent to said radial surface not having a source of magnetic flux adjacent thereto.

  • Patent number: 10971294
Abstract: This invention entails the use of fractal shapes as cores for electromagnets, and a concurrent shape of a fractal for the windings which surround it. The novelty of this invention lies not only with the shaping, but the advantage of such shaping, which includes producing a smaller form factor electromagnet for the same desired magnetic field strength, when compared to a conventional electromagnet. It will be appreciated that a range of devices including electromagnets, based on such fractal shaping, are additionally novel and include but are not limited to solenoid switches, relays, and other devices in which the fractal electromagnets are used to make a change in state of some device.
