  • Patent number: 7542823
Abstract: The invention aims to provide a zone controlled conveyor system including a plurality of zones for control. A zone controlled conveyor system, while conveyance of any article from a zone to a downstream zone is forbidden, (a) starts operation of a driving roller in the zone at a first conveying speed slower than a prescribed standard conveying speed upon detection of a presence of an article from an immediately upstream zone of the zone, (b) operates the driving roller at a second conveying speed slower than the first conveying speed after arrival of the article at a predetermined position in the zone, and (c) halts operation of the driving roller upon detection of a presence of the article in the zone. Thereby, the system enables to stop articles at a target position accurately.

  • Patent number: 7527145
Abstract: A low-friction conveyor (10) including a conveyor belt (12) supported on self-contained rollers (32) riding along a carryway (22). The conveyor includes a modular conveyor belt constructed of a series of rows of belt modules (24, 25) connected into a loop by hinge joints between adjacent rows (26). The belt is supported on a carryway. Drive surfaces are accessible from the interior side (28) of the belt loop. Drive elements, such as sprockets (16), drive on the drive surfaces to move the belt along the carryway. The belt rollers are recessod inward of the outer side (29) of the belt loop and extend past the interior side of the belt loop. In this way, the rollers engage the carryway in low-friction, rolling contact.

  • Patent number: 7505831
Abstract: A document processing device having an evaluation region disposed along a transport path between an input and output receptacle capable of processing both currency bills and identification cards. An evaluation unit enables entry of source identification information before or after processing currency bills. Memory is adapted to store source identification information for multiple batches of currency. Multiple batches are placed in the processing device for multiple batch processing. The evaluation region includes detectors for detecting predetermined characteristics of currency bills and distinguishing identification cards from currency. During processing, the identification card, or other separator card, is sent to a predetermined output receptacle designated as a reject receptacle. Currency that is rejected is sent to the reject receptacle. Rejected currency is separated into batches by the identification cards sent to the reject receptacle during processing.

  • Patent number: 7494006
Abstract: A modular conveyor belt and belt attachment members that are retained by hinge rods. The attachment members have a body with opposite outer and base surfaces. Interaction elements, such as high-friction surfaces, plates, or holddown wings, extend from the outer surface. The base surface mounts flush against a conveying surface or an opposite surface of the belt. Legs extend directly from the base surface into gaps between hinge elements extending longitudinally outward of conveyor belt modules forming the belt. Feet at distal ends of the legs hook under hinge rods to retain the attachment member firmly in place. The lateral spacings between the legs are related to the geometry of the hinge elements to register the attachment element with respect to the belt.

  • Patent number: 7493189
Abstract: Method for sorting mailings according to the distribution sequence in a sorter unit with circulating pouches, the number of pouches in a pouch circuit being less than the number of mailings for sorting in said sorting run. After all pouches are loaded, the separation and reading of the remaining mailings for the sorting run is carried out and the mailings are divided into one part for corresponding mailing points for the beginning or end of the sequence, and another part for all the charged mailings, which are then buffered. The mailings in the pouches are then sorted according to the sequence. The buffered mailings are placed in the empty pouches and then separated into further distribution sections, when not all buffered mailings fit in the pouches. Once all pouches are filled with the buffered mailings for the subsequent distribution section the next sorting is carried out.
