  • Patent number: 7479942
Abstract: Methods and systems for writing and erasing electric writeable media are disclosed. An electric writeable medium may include a backplane electrode, a display layer including a plurality of elements and a top layer. The medium may further include a plurality of island electrodes. To enable writing to the medium, a stylus is charged to a positive voltage and the backplane electrode is grounded. The stylus is applied to the top layer and/or the island electrodes to deposit charge, which causes proximate elements to display a first color. If the top layer is a resistive layer, grounding the resistive layer and applying a positive voltage to the backplane electrode sufficient to change the displayed color of the elements erases the medium. If the top layer is a photoconductive layer, a light source is further required to enable the photoconductive layer to operate as an electrode when erasing the medium.

  • Patent number: 7420528
Abstract: In driving a Plasma Display Panel (PDP), when a driving operation moves from an address period to a sustain period, low-voltage driving switches of all of the scan ICs are turned on at the same time after the drain voltage and source voltage of each of them are made equal via a power recovery circuit under the condition that the outputs of the scan ICs are floating. Therefore, when the switches are turned on, no current flows therethrough, thereby making it possible to solve instability of a driving circuit and noise and EMI therein.

  • Patent number: 7391396
Abstract: In a display device, input display data processed by an input processing circuit is stored in a frame memory as first video data. Next-inputted video data is stored in another frame memory as second video data. The stored first video data is read out as video signals of a first field in response to a double-speed clock signal and is supplied to respective drain drivers. A comparison circuit compares second video data and first video data in the frame memory for each pixel. An output data processing circuit is controlled based on the comparison result. When second video data is darker than first video data, black display data is supplied to respective drain drivers as display data of the second field, while when second video data is brighter than first video data, white display data is supplied to respective drain drivers as display data of the second field.
