Abstract: Provided are a method and device for producing negative oxygen ions, and a method and device for purifying air. Said method for producing negative oxygen ions comprises: respectively introducing air and water into an air-water reactor so that the introduced air and water reach a relative movement speed of not less than 20 m/s in said air-water reactor and react within said air-water reactor so as to produce negative oxygen ions; and separating the air containing the negative oxygen ions after the reaction from the water after the reaction, and releasing the air containing the negative oxygen ions after the reaction into a required space. Said method and device can produce a large number of negative oxygen ions and purified air with a high efficiency at a low cost, without producing any harmful substances such as ozone and oxynitrides, and are long-acting and free of maintenance.
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a fragrance presentation device which prevents an unintended smell from being presented. A fragrance presentation device for use with a display device which can be mounted on the head of a user includes a fragrance presentation module disposed in a fragrance presentation position in the vicinity of the nostrils of a person on which the display device is mounted, a fragrance holder having a fragrance container for holding a fragrance therein, the fragrance holder placing the fragrance container in a position spaced from the fragrance presentation position at least while the fragrance is not presented, and delivering the fragrance out of the fragrance container when the fragrance in the fragrance container is presented, and a fragrance conductor for conducting the fragrance which has been delivered out of the fragrance holder to the fragrance presentation module.
Abstract: In an example, a method of operating a UV light source for a vehicle includes measuring an amount of power on a commodity power feeder, determining when the measured amount of power is greater than a threshold amount of power and, responsively, actuating a switch to a first state in which the switch decouples the UV light source from the power on the commodity power feeder. The method also includes determining when the measured amount of power is less than the threshold amount of power and responsively actuating the switch to a second state in which the switch couples the UV light source to the power on the commodity power feeder. The method also includes, while the switch is in the second state, activating the UV light source, using the power from the commodity power feeder, to emit UV light in the vehicle.
Abstract: A volatile material dispenser may include a housing adapted to hold a refill containing a volatile material and a nebulizer in communication with the refill and the volatile material within the refill, wherein the nebulizer is adapted to volatilize and emit the volatile material as nebulized particles. The nebulizer may include a piezoelectric element having a central aperture and first and second opposing surfaces and an orifice plate disposed adjacent the first surface of the piezoelectric element.

Abstract: A system and method of disinfecting an area using germicidal radiation. The system is configured to capture images of an environment, analyze the images to determine locations of a person or unprotected skin of a person in the environment, and control one or more germicidal radiation emitters to decontaminate the environment where the person or exposed skin of persons in the environment are not located. The system and method allow for safe decontamination of an environment using hazardous levels of germicidal radiation while occupied by a person who may not be fully protected from the radiation.
Abstract: A biological indicator with variable resistance may be controlled by moving a cap or housing of the biological indicator to cause the size of vents that allow flow of sterilant through the housing to decrease or increase in effective size. An indicator window may show a user the current resistance of the biological indicator, and may also show a readable indicator that may be captured by a scanner to allow a sterilizing cabinet to identify the current resistance. When the level of resistance shown by the readable indicator is not compatible with a sterilization cycle selected by a user, the procedure may be delayed and a notification provided to the user that a problem exists. The readable indicator may be a passive tag with a memory that allows information to be read and written, so that the biological indicator may carry data from one device to another.
