  • Patent number: 10422907
Abstract: A method for seismic geological lineation mapping, wherein a seismic dataset is collected, with information about minor lineations generated by subtle structural geological features in an underground earth formation. Seismic attribute volumes are identified in the seismic dataset, relating to trace continuity, amplitude, frequency and phase. The attribute volumes may have an insufficient resolution to display the minor lineations. A seismic multivolume lithological lineation map is generated, in which single attribute lineation maps generated for each of the identified seismic attribute volumes are combined to accurately display the minor lineations generated by the subtle geological features.

  • Patent number: 10408883
Abstract: Evaluation of a DC power source can include communication with a voltmeter that is arranged to monitor electrical potential across positive and negative electrodes. The method includes determining a full-cell open-circuit voltage (“OCV”), an associated positive half-cell OCV, and an associated negative half-cell OCV at a start-of-life point of the DC power source. A lithium balance model is executed to determine a plurality of beginning states associated with an electrode alignment of the DC power source. An in-use state for the full-cell OCV is determined. An optimization routine is executed employing the lithium balance model to determine in-use states associated with the electrode alignment of the DC power source based upon the in-use state for the full-cell OCV and the beginning states associated with electrode alignment. A negative-to-positive (“N/P”) ratio is determined based upon the in-use states, and battery life is evaluated based upon the N/P ratio.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for analyzing performance of a chilled water (CW) system having a plurality of CW components. The method may consider a collection of at least one of allowable operating points, allowable operating ranges or allowable operating conditions, for each one of the CW components. A user set or system measured ambient wet bulb (WB) temperature may be considered for an environment in which at least a subplurality of the CW components are located. Equivalent loop conditions may be calculated for each of the CW components covering a load being thermally managed by the CW system. For each one of the calculated equivalent loop conditions, a processor may generate information for balancing the CW components to meet load requirements, and then analyze and select a balance condition that yields the user preferable optimization.

  • Patent number: 10401900
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a technique that uses a modified timing signal to reduce self-induced voltage noise in a synchronous system. During a transient period associated with a deterministic event in the synchronous system, the technique uses a modified timing signal generated based on a normal timing signal as a timing signal for the synchronous system. Outside of the transient period, the technique uses the normal timing as the timing signal for the synchronous system. In some embodiments, the modified timing signal is generated by skipping a pattern of clock transitions in the normal timing signal.

  • Patent number: 10401435
Abstract: A system for tracking the capacity of a battery in a portable electronic device is described. While the portable electronic device remains plugged in to a power adapter, the system estimates the capacity of the battery by performing the following operations. The system measures a first open-circuit voltage for the battery while the battery rests at a first state of charge. Next, the system causes the battery to transition to a second state of charge. While the battery transitions to the second state of charge, the system integrates a current through the battery to determine a net change in charge for the battery. Next, the system measures a second open-circuit voltage for the battery while the battery rests at the second state of charge. Finally, the system estimates a capacity for the battery based on the first open-circuit voltage, the second open-circuit voltage and the net change in charge. This capacity measurement is repeated and the multiple results are fit to a line.

  • Patent number: 10386252
Abstract: A position control apparatus is provided that can perform accurate nonlinear compensation control immediately after the apparatus is activated. At a time of acceleration, a signal amplification ratio is calculated and designated for each signal vector element based on information related to acceleration/deceleration at a starting time and the structure of a signal vector that is determined for a target plant, and as a result, a signal vector for which the strength of linear independence is increased is generated. Because the strength of the linear independence condition of the signal vector is increased, the speed of convergence of identification for a low-frequency disturbance element, such as a gravitational torque or a sliding-mode load torque, can be increased.

  • Patent number: 10371687
Abstract: An in-cylinder pressure sensor is provided. It is determined whether a cylinder for which the in-cylinder air-fuel ratio is to be calculated is a rich cylinder or a lean cylinder. A polytropic index in the expansion stroke is calculated from the in-cylinder pressure detected by the in-cylinder pressure sensor. The calculated polytropic index m is corrected based on an operational condition parameter of an internal combustion engine. An in-cylinder air-fuel ratio is calculated based on the corrected polytropic index m in the expansion stroke, the result of the determination of whether the cylinder is a rich cylinder or a lean cylinder, and an m-A/F curve.
