    Abstract: Embodiments relate to providing a method for an authenticated user of an item of streaming media content to create a shareable clip of a portion of the item. The method comprises using an interface on a first device to accept, from the authenticated user, a first input to define the clip and a second input to create a comment; creating an identifier, uniquely corresponding to the authenticated user and the clip; and sending the identifier and the comment to a second user in a form that includes a clickable link. If the second user clicks on the clickable link, the clip is streamed to the second user to play on a second device, independent of whether the second user is authorized to access the whole of the content. The clickable link expires either after a predetermined time or after a predetermined number of plays by the second user.

The system separates the authority for edits from the replicated storage allowing efficient transactions and linear scalability. Documents are read from view-based partitions of a store. Document writes are written to a document-specific partition in a journal and applied to the store. The system stores a copy of pending changes in a user-specific partition. When a user requests a view, the system checks that user's cache for any pending changes applicable to the view. If any applicable changes are found, the changes are applied before showing the view to the user. Pending changes that have been successfully applied to the store are trimmed from the user-specific partition to free up resources.

A reader indicator may be presented in a user interface of a browser if the availability of the reader mode is detected. A user of the browser may be noted with an alternative presentation of the article content from the web page in addition to a presentation of the whole web page by the browser. If the reader mode of the web page is not available, no reader indicator may be present in the browser.

The result is a playback mechanism that allows for more precise real time playback rate corrections by an operator by providing a visible cue so they can better keep the source media synced with the live event, even if there are real time tempo variations in the live event.
