Abstract: Each pixel in a display device includes an emissive element, a driver transistor, a control transistor, and a control capacitor. The driver transistor is provided between the emissive element and a power supply and controls supply of power from the power supply to the emissive element. The control transistor is connected between a constant voltage power supply and a gate of the driver transistor, receives a digital data signal on a gate, and controls whether or not to fix a gate voltage of the driver transistor. The control capacitor is connected between a control line and the gate of the driver transistor. The gate voltage of the driver transistor is shifted to a voltage corresponding to a control pulse signal when the control transistor is off and is non-fixed during a light emission period defined by the control pulse signal applied to the control line.

  • Patent number: 7397445
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plasma display panel, and more particularly, to a method of displaying the gray scale in a plasma display panel. According to the present invention, a method of displaying gray scales in a plasma display panel having an inverse gamma correction unit that operates using gamma tables includes the steps of allowing the inverse gamma correction unit to match picture signals, which corresponds to an n number of frames (n is a natural number) respectively, to an n number of previously stored gamma tables, allowing the inverse gamma correction unit to perform an inverse gamma process on the picture signals received according to the matched gamma tables to produce real gray scales every frame, and allowing the inverse gamma correction unit to divide the real gray scales every frame by n and then to produce last real gray scales. More fine gray scales can be represented by extending the number of real gray scales. It is thus possible to remove noise and provide a much smooth image.

  • Patent number: 7379058
Abstract: A display apparatus that can improve power savings in a waiting mode is disclosed. The display apparatus (0) is used as a display component of an electronic device capable of switching between a normal power consumption state and a low power consumption state and includes a panel in which a display area (2) and a peripheral circuit section for driving the display area are integrally formed on an insulating substrate (1). The circuit section switches between an operation mode and a waiting mode responsive to switching between the normal power consumption state and the low power consumption state of a main body of the electronic device. In the waiting mode, a standby control operation stops driving the display area 2 and inactivates the circuit section to suppress power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7379080
Abstract: Unit pixels in a color display device each include a first and a second subpixel. The second is provided with a color filter, and each has a medium changing optical properties (hue and brightness of transmitted light) depending on an applied voltage. A voltage is applied to the first subpixel to modulate those optical properties of the medium, and a voltage is applied to the second subpixel to modulate the brightness of light passing through the medium disposed at the second subpixel. When display of the color display device is switched, a correction voltage of the second subpixel is calculated from a voltage applied to the first subpixel before the display is switched and a voltage applied to the first subpixel after the display is switched, and the voltage applied to the second subpixel is set to a value obtained by superposing the correction voltage on a voltage determined by the display at the second subpixel in a predetermined period after the voltage applied to the first subpixel is switched.

  • Patent number: 6362808
Abstract: A color mapping method is used in transforming colors between color imaging systems. The method includes using forward transformation profiles that characterize the color imaging systems to generate respective sets of device-independent color values for the color imaging systems. Color conversions are calculated by reducing differences between the respective sets of device-independent color values. • Patent number: 6262712
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling a feedback force applied by a joystick to a user gripping the control handle of the joystick. In the preferred embodiment, a light path between an infrared light source and a light sensor is interrupted by a user gripping the handle of a joystick. The output signal from the light sensor is employed by a processor to control the feedback force. When based upon the output signal, the processor determines that the user has just gripped the control handle, the processor enables the feedback force to increase slowly, over a sufficiently long time to enable the user to firmly grip the control handle before the feedback force becomes very strong. The processor immediately disables generation of the feedback force as soon as the user releases the control handle.

  • Patent number: 6256025
Abstract: A driving voltage generating circuit of a matrix-type display device includes a voltage dividing resistor group composed of a plurality of voltage dividing resistors connected in series, for dividing a potential a difference of a reference voltage. It also includes operational amplifiers for generating and outputting row voltages (a selective voltage and a non-selective voltage) to be applied to row electrodes, by subjecting each voltage obtained by voltage division to impedance conversion. A p-channel MOSFET and an n-channel MOSFET as analog switches for altering a level of each voltage thus generated are provided in parallel with voltage dividing resistors at ends of the voltage dividing resistor group. With this arrangement, the number of elements necessary for the circuit, for example, MOSFETS and level shifters for controlling the MOSFETS, can be decreased. Therefore, the size of the driving voltage generating circuit can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6246387
Abstract: An active matrix semiconductor device is provided which is free of unevenness in image. The analog switch and buffer in a drive circuit are structured by a plurality of parallel-connected analog switches and buffers each formed by a TFT with a small channel width. The carrier moving direction of these TFTs are oblique relative to a scanning direction of a linear laser used for laser crystallization. By doing so, the analog switch and the buffer are decreased in characteristic variation with deterioration suppressed. Thus an active matrix semiconductor device is realized which is free of unevenness in image.
