  • Patent number: 5261653
Abstract: This invention discloses a sheet feeder which comprises a plurality of micro switches, a light sensitive switch, and a controller board having an erasable programmable read only memory (EPROM) for receiving signals from the micro switch and sending pre-programmed responses to control the movement a pair of motors which in turn cause a paper carrying elevator to ascend and send the feed paper sheets into a laser printer. The capacity of the sheet feeder of this invention is several times that of a conventional tray-shaped sheet feeder. The front face of this sheet feeder is provided with a receiving rack, each of whose two ends is furnished with an oblong hole. A sheet guide is pivotally connected to the sheet feeder using two small round bolts inserted through the two oblong holes respectively. The height of the sheet guide can be adjusted within a given limit to accommodate the varying feeding port height of a wide variety of laser printers.

  • Patent number: 5261656
Abstract: At every chain (4) of the chain conveyor (3), there are arranged a vane element (6) and a clamp member (7) in the shape of a double arm lever, one arm of which affords engagement with the vane element (6), while another's roller (11) moves on/off a cam or pattern-copy-device (13) along the path of the chain (4) travel next to the product folding apparatus. Between the clamp member (7) and the vane element (6) a compartment or pocket (15) is formed to receive the printed product (1). As the chain (4) continues its movement, the roller (11) engaged with the cam (13) bears upon the element (7), and thereby the printed product (1) is held and the by-the-piece conveyance of the printed products is ensured.

  • Patent number: 5257777
Abstract: An Apparatus for separating and advancing documents includes a moving element for frictionally engaging and advancing one of the documents along a path, and a stationary element for frictionally engaging and halting the advance of the remainder of the documents. The moving element and the stationary element each include a plurality of belts and are disposed in relative juxtaposition whereby the one document is gripped between the moving element and the stationary element and advanced along the path under the influence of the moving element. The moving element and the stationary element contact the first and second surfaces, respectively, of the one document via the respective belts to provide a column strength to the one document over a substantial surface area of the document as the one document advances through the apparatus, thereby preventing portions of the one document from being crimped between the moving element and the stationary element.

  • Patent number: 5244199
Abstract: A machine, for holding signatures and delivering them to a pocket in an inserter unit that forms part of a binding machine, has three conveyors, namely a feed conveyor, a spreading conveyor, and a pocket conveyor arranged in that order between a loading position and the pocket of the inserter unit. All three of the conveyors have table belts and side belts with the spacing between the side belts being less than the width of the signatures, so that the signatures bow forwardly when standing on edge in the conveyors. The belts of the spreading and pocket conveyors advance the signatures more rapidly then the belts of the feed conveyor, so that the signatures are less consolidated on the spreading and pocket conveyors. The table belts of the pocket conveyor are inclined downwardly away from the table belts of the spreading conveyor, but a supporting surface exists at the center of the pocket conveyor as an extension of the table belts in the spreading conveyor.
