  • Patent number: 9403483
Abstract: A vehicle image processing apparatus includes a group of cameras, a drawing unit that converts a captured image into an image viewed along a line of sight running from a predetermined position in a predetermined direction, a viewing-line-of-sight changing unit that detects whether a first line of sight is switched to a second line of sight, and a viewing-line-of-sight generation/updating unit that acquires parameters concerning the first and second lines of sight after detecting the switching and generates a parameter which is gradually changed from the parameter of the first line of sight to the parameter of the second line of sight. Moreover, the drawing unit generates, on the basis of the gradually changed parameter, an image which is gradually changed from an image viewed along the first line of sight to an image viewed along the second line of sight.

  • Patent number: 9288497
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products for transcoding advanced video coding (AVC) bitstreams into multiview video coding (MVC) bitstreams are described. In some implementations, a MVC transcoder may be used to convert non-anchor pictures (e.g., at a specified temporal point) into anchor pictures by using only inter-view prediction. The MVC transcoder also may utilize inter-view reference pictures (in addition to temporal reference pictures) in the motion estimation/mode decision functions of the non-anchor pictures. The output of the MVC transcoder may be one or more MVC bitstreams each representing a different view of a same scene or image.

  • Patent number: 9282327
Abstract: There are provided a method and apparatus for video error concealment in multi-view coded video using high level syntax. The apparatus includes a decoder for decoding pictures for at least one view corresponding to multi-view video content from a bitstream. The pictures are representative of at least a portion of a video sequence. At least some of the pictures correspond to different time instances in the video sequence. The decoder determines whether any of the pictures corresponding to a particular one of the different time instances are lost using an existing syntax element. The existing syntax element is for indicating a number of coded views in the bitstream, including the at least one view.

  • Patent number: 9251739
Abstract: A first display zone and a second display zone are displayed based on a first light source group, which corresponds to a first voltage data signal; and then the second display zone and a third display zone are displayed based on light for a second light source group, which corresponding to a second voltage data signal. The first light source group and the second light source group illuminate the display zones alternatively. Each display zone is fed with either a first data voltage signal or a second data voltage signal. While the first data voltage signal is updating each display zone in sequence, the second data voltage signal starts updating the first display zone when the first voltage signal is updating the third display zone.

  • Patent number: 9189858
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining coordinates of a target in relation to a surveying instrument wherein a first image is captured using a first camera in a first camera position and orientation, a target is selected by identifying at least one object point in the first image, and first image coordinates of the object point in the first image are measured. In at least one embodiment, a second image is captured using a second camera in a second camera position and orientation, the object point identified in the first image is identified in the second image, and second image coordinates of the object point in the second image are measured. • Patent number: 9185339
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an efficient and cost-effective implementation of a method and system for increasing the frame-display rate of a video display device. Video data is often input to a video-display device in a compressed form that includes encoded and compressed motion vectors. The motion vectors provide information about portions of successive video frames which change in relative position. The motion vectors are decompressed and decoded along with the frames. In certain embodiments of the present invention, a first frame and an accompanying motion-vector table are transmitted from a processing component to a timing-controller component of a video-display device, using which the timing-controller component can generate a second frame that is displayed following display of the first frame.

  • Patent number: 9161042
Abstract: A quantization control method used in a video encoding which encodes a video image and performs control for making an encoding bit rate approach a predetermined target bit rate. The quantization control method includes measuring a differential amount of code between a target amount of code and an amount of generated code; determining whether or not a predetermined condition has occurred; determining, when it is determined that the condition has occurred, a variation for an amount of feedback which increases or decreases a quantization step size, and changing the amount of feedback based on the determined variation; and increasing or decreasing the quantization step size based on the measured differential amount of code and the changed amount of feedback. If there are a plurality of the predetermined conditions, a final variation for the amount of feedback may be determined by applying a specific operation to variations for the amount of feedback, which are determined for the individual conditions.

  • Patent number: 9118939
Abstract: A method is provided for processing multilayer bit streams that includes receiving the multilayer bit streams of Scalable Video Code (SVC) each having a base layer and at least one enhancement layer. One or more of the enhancement layers are extracted in whole or in part from at least one of the multilayer bit streams so that the multilayer bit streams are collectively reduced in their total bandwidth. Each of the extracted bit streams are rewritten to a single layer bit stream. The single layer bit streams are then multiplexed to form a multiplexed single layer bit stream that is non-SVC.

  • Patent number: 9083944
Abstract: An encoding apparatus encodes image data using a picture order count (POC) that indicates a display order of a picture. The encoding apparatus includes a remainder calculating unit that calculates a remainder by dividing an absolute frame number counted from an instantaneous decoding refresh (IDR) picture by a divisor which is a number of reference frames in one POC cycle, and a remainder code converting unit that coverts the remainder calculated by the remainder calculating unit into a code. A decoding apparatus decodes image data using the POC. The decoding apparatus includes a remainder extracting unit that, when random access decoding is performed, extracts a remainder by decoding a remainder code added to a picture at a random decoding start position, and an initializing unit that initializes an input value of a decoding process for the POC, by using the remainder extracted by the remainder extracting unit.

  • Patent number: 8953685
Abstract: A decoder may apply a resource-focused interpolation mode to enable or disable interpolation or extrapolation of video units, such as frames, based on power and quality considerations. In one mode, interpolation may be disabled to conserve power when reference frames are not likely to produce satisfactory quality. In another mode, the threshold may be adjustable as a function of power saving requirements. This disclosure also describes selection of reference video frames to be used for interpolation or extrapolation of a video frame. A decoder may apply a quality-focused mode to select a reference frame based on quality criteria. The quality criteria may indicate a level of quality likely to be produced by a reference frame. If no reference frames satisfy the quality criteria, interpolation or extrapolation may be disabled. Display of an interpolated or extrapolated frame may be selectively enabled based on a quality analysis of the frame.

  • Patent number: 8948267
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention includes a multi-core processor that processes video data. The control core controls a first processing core to process a first set of data blocks of an image frame according to a stairstep pattern. The control core detects, while the first processing core is processing the first set, that a triggering data block has been processed in the first set. The control core controls, while the first processing core is processing the first set, a second processing core to process a second set of data blocks using information from the triggering data block. By processing data blocks in the stairstep pattern, cache hit rate is improved, resulting in improved video decoder performance.
