Abstract: A hydraulic turbine includes a runner having a shaft, a runner crown, and a runner tip. Blades are fixed to the runner crown and are rotatable around an axis of rotation in operation of the hydraulic turbine, each blade including a leading edge and a trailing edge. A first chamber is located between the runner crown and a stationary head cover, or within head cover. A second chamber is located in the runner tip. A passage for water is defined between the first chamber and the second chamber. The runner crown has an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion having a larger diameter than the lower portion such that a channel is defined between the upper and lower portions. The channel has a circular shape and a circular symmetry around the axis of rotation and leads to a discharge region below the runner.

Abstract: A wind turbine is disclosed which comprises a control system configured to execute at least one ice removal routine which comprises a heating stage of at least one of the blades (3), and a mechanical removal ice stage. A wind turbine removing ice method is also disclosed which comprises a stage wherein the presence of ice is detected on at least one of the blades and, once said presence of ice is detected, comprises a stage wherein at least one ice removal routine is activated which comprises, in turn, a heating stage of at least one of the blades and a mechanical removing ice stage on at least said blade.

Abstract: There is provided a pitch control assembly for a rotor of an aircraft, the rotor rotatable about a longitudinal axis and having blades each rotatable about a span-wise axis to adjust a blade pitch angle thereof, the assembly comprising a plurality of position markers spaced circumferentially around the longitudinal axis and having lengths along the longitudinal axis which vary monotonically and incrementally, at least one sensor configured for producing at least one sensor signal in response to detecting a relative movement between the plurality of position markers and the at least one sensor, and a control unit communicatively coupled to the at least one sensor and configured to generate a feedback signal indicative of the blade pitch angle in response to the at least one sensor signal received from the at least one sensor.
