    Abstract: A capacitor device for utilizing dependent capacitances for measurement purposes wherein facing surfaces have pairs of capacitors constructed and arranged relative to a displacement axis so that a first pair of capacitors define measurement capcitors and a second pair of capacitors define reference capacitors and capacitance measurements from the capacitors can be combined to minimize effects of relative displacement in the facing surfaces.
