  • Patent number: 9618057
Abstract: A driven disc assembly is provided wherein a clutch disc has enlarged holes for connection of opposing backing plates. The backing plates have semi-pierced sections that are insertable within mounting holes of the clutch disc. The thickness of the backing plates are enlarged from their normal thickness causing a top surface of the backing plates to axially clear heads of conventional rivets. The thickness of the friction buttons on the backing plates can then be reduced to their minimal effective use thickness.

  • Patent number: 9599206
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque coupling device with lockup clutch is provided that includes an impeller, an axially displaceable turbine-piston, and a stop feature. The turbine-piston includes a turbine-piston shell and a turbine-piston flange. The turbine-piston is axially displaceable relative to the impeller to move an engagement surface region of the turbine-piston towards and away from an engagement surface region of the impeller for positioning the torque converter respectively into and out of a lockup mode. When the turbine-piston is out of the lockup mode, a fluid passageway connecting a torus chamber to a damper chamber extends between the engagement surface regions and between flow restriction surface regions of the turbine-piston and impeller. At a maximum axial displacement position out of lockup mode, a gap between the engagement surface regions is greater than a gap between the flow restriction surface regions.

  • Patent number: 9593755
Abstract: A hydrokinetic torque coupling device includes an impeller, a casing having a first engagement surface, a turbine-piston hydrodynamically drivable by the impeller, and a biasing device. The turbine-piston is hydrodynamically drivable by the impeller and includes a turbine-piston shell having a second engagement surface facing the first engagement surface. The turbine-piston is axially displaceable relative to the impeller between a hydrodynamic transmission mode and a lockup mode. The biasing device is configured to exert an axial load against the turbine-piston to urge the turbine-piston axially away from the lockup mode and towards the hydrodynamic transmission mode. The axial load exerted by the biasing device decreases as the turbine-piston moves axially towards the lockup mode and increases as the turbine-piston moves axially away from the lockup mode.

  • Patent number: 9587680
Abstract: The present invention provides a clutch. The clutch of the invention includes a coupler, that is a ring or hollow structure surrounding a lumen. The lumen of the coupler has an engaging section and a non-engaging section. In an engaged configuration of the clutch, a driving member and a driven member are located in the engaging section of the coupler and rotation of the driving member in the engaging section generates rotation of the coupler and rotation of the coupler generates rotation of the driven member. In a disengaged configuration of the clutch, one or both of the driving member and the driven member is not located in the engaging section of the coupler and either rotation of the driving member does not generate rotation of the coupler or rotation of the coupler does not generate rotation of the driven member.

  • Patent number: 9551381
Abstract: This device comprises a driving shaft, which is rotary on itself around a central axis and which is secured to a head for driving the tool into rotation around the axis, the tool being added onto the driving head in a removable way. The driving head includes a driving hub which is adapted so as to be engaged with a driven hub of the tool in order to transmit a rotary movement between them. The driving head is provided with locking centrifugal weights for the tool on the driving head, said centrifugal weights being moveable, under the effect of a centrifugal force resulting from the setting into rotation of the driving head by the driving shaft, between a rest position, in which the centrifugal weights do not interfere with the driven hub, and a position of use, in which a portion of each of the centrifugal weights is brought closer to the central axis and mechanically cooperates with the driven hub in order to maintain it engaged with the driving hub.
