Abstract: A method of closing boxes in which the open-ended boxes and covers are sequentially fed to a box-closing station with the top of each cover overlying the open end of the box. Fitting-leaves are interposed between the outer face of the open end of the box, and the inner face of the peripheral side wall of the cover, while relative movement is effected between the cover and the box towards each other, such as to fit the cover over the open end of the box. The apparatus includes a lift which raises the box into fitted engagement with the cover supported on the fitting-leaves at the box-closing station.
Abstract: For filling and closing cartons, the latter are filled via the open bottom and then conveyed along an angular transport track. Fixed folding means for folding inner tabs (15 to 18) and outer tabs (19 to 22) solely as a result of the relative movement of the carton are located in the region of two conveying stages (42, 62). In the region of the second conveying stage (62), the carton has a relative position which has turned through 180.degree..
Abstract: For placing prethreaded closure caps on the mouths of screw threaded bottles and effecting preliminary engagement of the caps with the threads of the bottles, the caps are withdrawn successively from a feed chute and supplied to suction pick-up members, which are individually supported by brackets, turning about the center of a star wheel. The brackets are supported by a cam track which raises and lowers the suction pick-up members, which carry the caps on their lower surface. The caps are thus lowered onto the bottles in a level condition and are held level by the pick-up members during preliminary engagement of the caps with the bottle threads. The caps are conveniently rotated by rotating the pick-up members in their brackets through contact with a stationary friction or rack member.
Abstract: A device for feeding sheets of paper to be interleaved with a stack of meat patties includes a vertical push rod within a tube which is slidable in a hole in one end of a feed arm. The feed arm is connected at the other end to a vertically oscillating shaft which moves up and down in conjunction with a meat patty ejection arm. The upper surface of the feed arm also supports a pivoting lock plate having one end mounted on a vertical post. The other end of the lock plate includes a hole accommodating the slidable tube. The lower end of the push rod includes a pressure foot which rests on top of a stack of paper sheets. A spring is positioned around the push rod between the pressure foot and the lower end of the slidable tube. When the oscillating shaft moves down, the lock plate pivots to an angular position which causes the slidable tube to be gripped within the hole in the lock plate.
