Abstract: Telescope comprising two or more reflecting elements, wherein a light beam impinging on a first reflecting element leaves through a second reflecting element, in which the shape of the reflecting surface of the second reflecting element is concave. The shape of the reflecting surface of the first reflecting element is concave. An entrance pupil is arranged in the light path in front of the first reflecting element and the first reflecting element images the entrance pupil nearly in the focus of the second reflecting element.

Abstract: An articulated viewing apparatus (10) has a pair of elevational actuators (56, 78), one of which is a coarse-position actuator (56) and the other of which is a fine-position actuator (78), and each of which pivots a mirror head (28) about respective parallel elevational axes (54, 66'). Pivotal movements of the mirror head (28) direct the line of sight of a viewer looking outwardly through a window (22). The window (22) may be formed in the wall of a vehicle or may be at the upper end of a periscope tube, for example, and includes a transparent material (24). This window (22) may admit light to an optical sensor or to the user's eye directly. The coarse-position elevational actuator (56) is positioned so that its axis (54) is located as close as possible to an edge of the mirror head (28) and close to the inner surface of the window glazing (24) so that the size of the window (22) is minimized with respect to the size of the optical aperture and field of view provided to the user of the apparatus (10).

Abstract: An optical system is described consisting of reflection birefringent light valves, polarizing beam splitter, color image combining prisms, illumination system, projection lens, filters for color and contrast control, and screen placed in a configuration offering advantages for a high resolution color display. In particular, the present invention includes a color splitting prism assembly having a plurality of output faces through which a separate color component is directed to be reflected by a respective light valve. Color absorbing filters are disposed at each of the output faces to absorb the color components not corresponding to the color directed through each output face.

Abstract: An image sensing apparatus for converting an object image formed by a photographic lens into electrical signals includes a solid-state image sensor having an offset sampling structure for converting the image into electrical signals. An optical low-pass filter is positioned between the lens and the solid-state image sensor and includes at least two optical members each for splitting a light beam into plural light beams having two different propagation directions from each other.

Abstract: An eyewear retainer device includes a one-piece sleeve having a main body section and a pair of infolded sections extended within the confines of the main body section and joined to one another with a heat weld to form a double-walled tube-like structure having opposed open ends. A pair of elastic collars are captured between the double walls of the tube-like structure and surround the open ends thereof for gripping the temples of eyeglasses inserted therein. The double-walled tube-like structure is folded to form a loop with free ends and provided with a keeper which is slidable toward and away from the free ends for adjusting the effective length of the retainer device therebetween. The invention includes the method of making the eyewear retainer.
