  • Patent number: 9775086
Abstract: A device and method performs a handover. The method includes establishing a connection to a cellular network. The method includes determining whether a WiFi network is available for connection. The method includes determining performance data of the WiFi network based upon network metrics. The method includes determining a quality of service (QoS) parameter associated with a currently executed application, the QoS parameter being indicative of whether a handover from the cellular network to the WiFi network is permitted. The method includes performing the handover from the cellular network to the WiFi network when the performance data of the WiFi network satisfies a set of predetermined criteria for the network metrics and the QoS parameter indicates the handover is permitted.

  • Patent number: 9769078
Abstract: In one embodiment, a next set of packets in a first flow may be identified. A counter may be incremented, where the counter indicates a first number of initial sets of packets in first flow that have been identified. The identified next set of packets may be prioritized such that the first number of initial sets of packets in the first flow are prioritized and a sequential order of all packets in the first flow is maintained. The identifying, incrementing, and prioritizing may be repeated until no further sets of packets in the first flow remain to be identified or the first number of initial sets of packets is equal to a first predefined number.

  • Patent number: 9769829
Abstract: Aspects related to allocating transmission power in wireless communications are described. It can be determined whether data is to be transmitted on an uplink control channel in one or more upcoming transmission time intervals (TTIs). Based on this determination, transmission power is allocated to an uplink enhanced dedicated channel in the one or more upcoming TTIs. Where uplink control channel data is not to be transmitted in the one or more upcoming TTIs, transmission power that would have been used for the uplink control channels can instead be allocated to the enhanced dedicated channel.

  • Patent number: 9762449
Abstract: Method and communication system for distributing information relating to a set of networks from a first node to a second node of the communication system, wherein a set of identifiers of respective networks which belong to the set of networks is stored at the first node. Hash values are generated at the first node for the identifiers in the set of identifiers using a hash function. The generated hash values are transmitted from the first node to the second node. The second node determines an identifier of a particular network which is available for communicating with the second node. The second node generates a hash value for the identifier of the particular network using the hash function. The second node then compares the hash value of the identifier of the particular network generated at the second node with the hash values received at the second node from the first node to thereby determine whether the particular network belongs to said set of networks.

  • Patent number: 9749096
Abstract: There is provided a method, performed by a receiving node, for generating composite acknowledgement information for a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request, HARQ, process. The composite acknowledgement information is generated in response to transport blocks received from a transmitting node. The method comprises the step (301) of providing, for each transport block, a positive acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement, ACK/NAK, indication for each of a plurality of transmissions of the transport block to define a respective set of ACK/NAK indications. The method also comprises the step (302) of generating the composite acknowledgement information based on the respective sets of ACK/NAK indications for the transport blocks over the plurality of transmissions. In this way, by considering respective sets of ACK/NACK indications over a plurality of transmissions, it is possible to generate an appropriate composite acknowledgment.

  • Patent number: 9749181
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing communications between multiple computing nodes, such as computing nodes that are part of a virtual computer network. In some situations, various types of modifications may be made to one or more computing nodes of an existing virtual computer network, and the described techniques include managing ongoing communications for those computing nodes so as to accommodate the modifications. Such modifications may include, for example, migrating or otherwise moving a particular computing node that is part of a virtual network to a new physical network location, or modifying other aspects of how the computing node participates in the virtual network (e.g., changing one or more virtual network addresses used by the computing node). In some situations, the computing nodes may include virtual machine nodes hosted on one or more physical computing machines or systems, such as by or on behalf of one or more users.

  • Patent number: 9742531
Abstract: Embodiments for providing demodulation reference signals to provide side information for interference cancellation are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a sub-frame is prepared comprising two slots and configuring a physical resource block (PRB) for each slot, wherein each PRB comprises twelve Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) subcarriers transmitting for a duration of 7 OFDM symbols per slot. In resource elements on each of three of twelve OFDM subcarriers, two pairs of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) are allocated to form three DMRS sets. Symbols are mapped with a first modulation for the two pairs of demodulation reference signals to three of the twelve OFDM subcarriers for transmission. A second modulation is added to a first of the three DMRS sets and a third modulation is added to a second of the three DMRS sets to indicate side information regarding an interfering signal for use in mitigating the interfering signal.
