  • Patent number: 8672083
Abstract: A tool can be attached to a vehicle key in the ignition switch of a vehicle and the operator can turn on the key, crank the engine, bump start, or turn off the engine. These operations can be performed while the operator is under the hood, for example, by operating a cable pull and release unit. The tool can be used to turn the ignition switch on to perform various diagnostic and vehicle lighting tests. The tool includes a hand held control unit that moves a cable within a housing when the handles of the control unit are squeezed from an initial position, toward each other. The cable causes a key turner to turn. A spring-loaded return mechanism causes the key turner to turn the key in reverse (in an off position) when the handles of the hand held control unit are moved back to the initial position.

  • Patent number: 8662529
Abstract: A side airbag having a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber divided by a sewn portion, a diffuser that distributes gas for inflation to the high pressure chamber and the low pressure chamber, and a check valve that regulates flowing of gas from a high pressure chamber side to a low pressure chamber side. A partitioning wall, that divides a lower chamber (high pressure chamber) and an upper chamber (low pressure chamber) within a side airbag, is structured by a portion of a lower base cloth (high pressure chamber base cloth) that structures the lower chamber or a portion of an upper base cloth (low pressure chamber base cloth) that structures the upper chamber. A check valve, that permits flowing of gas, jetted-out from a gas jetting-out portion of an inflator, from the upper chamber to the lower chamber and that regulates flowing of gas in an opposite direction, is provided integrally with the partitioning wall.

  • Patent number: 8651518
Abstract: A side airbag may be smoothly deployed when there is a side collision, and damage to the side airbag at edges of a module case is prevented or suppressed. A recess portion is formed in a seat frame made of resin, and an airbag module is accommodated in the recess portion. The airbag module is provided with a module case in a substantial box shape. An upper side gap is formed between an upper wall portion and an upper end of a side airbag, and a lower side gap is formed between a lower wall portion and a lower end of the side airbag. A length of the upper wall portion is set shorter than a length of an upper wall portion of the recess portion. As a result, the side airbag is less likely to come into contact with the upper wall portion of the module case.

  • Patent number: 8651504
Abstract: The invention relates to a transverse link (1) having a main body (2), which has at least one first fixing region (3) for pivotal attachment to a vehicle frame element and at least one further fixing region (6) for pivotal attachment to a hub carrier, the main body (2) having at least one wheel limb (8). In order largely to avoid destruction of the journal connection of the transverse link to a hub carrier if the wheel hits a curbstone, for example, the proposal is to provide a transitional region (19), which is arranged between the wheel limb (8) and the further fixing region (6), the transitional region (19) being embodied in such a way that a deformation zone (21) acting in the longitudinal direction (Y) of the wheel limb (8) is formed.

  • Patent number: 8646789
Abstract: A torsion beam type suspension device is provided in which a trailing arm part and a torsion beam part are formed as a unit by press-forming a tailored blank material in which end parts of plate materials having different thicknesses are butt-welded via a weld part. A weld part of the tailored blank material comprises a U-shaped cross section in which front and rear side wall portions are connected via a bottom wall portion, and a pair of cutouts are formed at the edge of each of the side wall portions at positions sandwiching the weld part, and therefore, when the torsion beam part is twistedly deformed, shifting the concentration of stress from the weld part to the cutout enables peeling apart of the weld end part to be prevented and the durability of the torsion beam type suspension device to be enhanced.
