Patent number: 4915669Abstract: A ball having an outer chamber and a first center of volume contains an inner chamber which is substantially smaller than the outer chamber. The inner chamber has a body portion and a neck portion, the neck portion extending between the body portion and the outer skin of the outer chamber. The neck portion is the only connection between the inner and outer chambers and comprises a flexible tube for permitting the inner chamber to swing back and forth within the outer chamber about the connection. The inner chamber contains a selected amount of a medium much denser than air and when the ball is in use the ball has eccentric and unpredictable flight characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1989Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Pressers International Products Inc.Inventor: Gordon K. Patent number: 4915664Abstract: A toy glider designed for launching with a slingshot like device, the glider having automatically converging wings for creating a swept-back appearance and for reducing air resistance during launch. The wings automatically rotate forward to an extended or glide configuration after launch. Wings are automatically converged by means of a sliding launching hook, which is pulled forward by the slingshot like launcher. When pulled forward, the launching hook slides forward within a longitudinal central aperture between the inboard portion of the wings, simultaneously rotating the inboard portions of the wings forward. This rotates the outlying wings into a swept-back or converged configuration. A rubber band tends to rotate the wing back into an extended or glide configuration, so when the force applied by the rubber band is greater than the forces opposing it, as when the plane slows, the wings are rotated out into an extended or glide configuration.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Inventor: Erik Bakker

Patent number: 4913675Abstract: The present invention is a missile-helicopter device which is capable of a projected, nose up ascent and a helicopter nose up descent. The device has an elongated missile body, fins, a latch release for the fins, bias mechanism for the fins and propulsion. The fins have relatively long lengths and short widths and are hingedly connected to the upper half of the missile body. The fins have a first position which is a substantially vertical position along their lengths parallel to the elongated missile body such that the fins protrude along their widths radially outwardly from the missile body at least at the lower half of the missile body so as to function as flight stabilizing fins during ascent. They also have a second position which is at approximately right angles or larger to the missile body such that the fins protrude radially outwardly along their lengths away from the upper half of the missile body so as to create a nose up helicopter type rotation during descent.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1988Date of Patent: April 3, 1990Inventor: Thomas R. Patent number: 4913137Abstract: An intramedullary rod system includes a guide rod and a tubular hollow intramedullary rod having an interior surface shaped, at least in a portion, complementary to that of the guide rod. The guide rod is first inserted through the medullary canal and then removed after sliding the tubular intramedullary rod over the guide rod. The guide rod is then aligned outside of the leg parallel to the hollow intramedullary rod for engagement at a distal end by bifurcated prongs with a drill bolt with which bifurcated prongs of the hollow intramedullary rod is simultaneously engaged. Screw holes are thereby aligned between the guide rod and the intramedullary rod at the distal end of the bone without the use of targeting. The hollow intramedullary rod is aligned with the guide rod by a lateral guide for accurate insertion through the guide rod of screws at the distal end of the hollow intramedullary rod.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1988Date of Patent: April 3, 1990Assignee: Orthopedic Designs, Inc.Inventors: Samir N. Patent number: 4911670Abstract: An educational doll kit is provided including a flat doll body to which doll clothing is removably attachable by means of hook-and-loop fasteners. One component of the fasteners is permanently affixed to the doll body and formulated to simulate undergarments, making the act of dressing the doll more realistic and ensuring that the fastener will not be exposed to view when a garment is properly applied. The kit includes a mounting board on which an environmental setting may be depicted and which can be refined by the application of scenic components, likewise removably attachable by means of hook-and-loop fasteners. Both the articles of clothing and the scenic components are of an improved construction enabling them to more closely simulate, respectively, actual clothing and envionrmental objects. The doll kit can provide an educational experience to children, teaching them the type of clothing which would be appropriate for a selected environmental setting.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1989Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Inventors: Cindy D. Patent number: 4911154Abstract: A surgical pin driver having a pair of elongated clamping jaws terminating in a clamping handle is provided with a bearing member pivotally movable relative to the clamping jaws for engagement therewith to move the clamping jaws from an open position to a closed position and vice versa. A bridging member surrounds the clamping jaws and is pivotally attached to the bearing member. An actuating lever having an actuating handle is bifurcated at the end remote from the actuating handle so as to provide a gap which encloses the clamping jaws. The bearing member is formed as an extension of the actuating lever so that the clamping handle and the actuating handle are capable of being gripped in one hand for driving a pin clamped between the clamping jaws into bone.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1987Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Inventor: David W.
