Abstract: An image-forming apparatus includes a housing, a cartridge, a fixing device, a shutter, a link connected to the shutter, and an electrical contact. The fixing device includes a heating unit. The shutter is movable between a closing position for covering an upstream end of the heating unit in a sheet conveying direction and an opening position for uncovering the upstream end of the heating unit. The link is provided on the housing and is configured to abut on the cartridge to move the shutter between the closing position and the opening position. The electrical contact is provided on the housing and contacts an electrical contact surface of a memory of the cartridge attached to the housing. In the housing, the link and the electrical contact are positioned on opposite sides of a center line of the attached cartridge in a widthwise direction orthogonal to an attachment/detachment direction of the cartridge.

Abstract: A toner container for use with a developer unit of an image forming device includes a body having a reservoir for holding toner and an engagement arm that is movable relative to the body between a disengaged position and an engaged position. The engagement arm includes a first engagement surface for contacting a cam surface in the image forming device and receiving an actuation force from the cam surface to move the engagement arm from the disengaged position to the engaged position when the toner container is inserted into the image forming device. The engagement arm includes a second engagement surface for contacting and applying a hold-down force on a portion of the developer unit when the engagement member moves from the disengaged position to the engaged position when the toner container is inserted into the image forming device with the developer unit installed in the image forming device.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, an optical scanning device, an image density sensor, and a control unit. The optical scanning device scans the surface of the image carrying member with light emitted from light sources to form an electrostatic latent image. The control unit can perform light amount calibration to adjust the exposure amount of the light scanning device based on the density of a reference image detected by the image density sensor. The reference image used for light amount calibration has a dot pattern in which as many individual dots as there are light sources are arrayed at regular intervals in the main scanning direction. The dot pattern is formed repeatedly in the main and sub scanning directions. The dots forming the dot pattern are arranged at different positions in the sub scanning direction to be displaced in units of pixels from each other.

A fixing device is removable from the device body through the opening. A process-power supply member supplies process-power to the process member based on power inputted from a power supply member. A switch switchable between: a first state in which the switch allows connection between the process-power supply member and the power supply member; and a second state in which the switch disconnects the process-power supply member from the power supply member to interrupt input of the process-power to the process-power supply member. The switch switches to the first state when the fixing device is mounted in the device body. The switch switches to the second state when the fixing device is removed from the device body.
