  • Patent number: 11422173
Abstract: A Power Management Controller (PMC) which manages power states of a platform, informs a power accumulator device to start measuring the platform power during entry into the low power state (e.g., S0iX). The power accumulator device starts measuring the power until a stop message comes from the PMC. The PMC on detection of any wake event initiates a stop message to the power accumulator device. Once an operating system (OS) context is restored, software can read the measured data from the power accumulator device. The measured data is accessible to a host software using standard software application programming interface (API) and can be used to influence the power policies of the system.

  • Patent number: 11366502
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for early detection of fan failure in a computing device, such as a server. A management device located in the computing device or remote from the computing device can receive information about the fan duty and use the fan duty information to determine a safe fan speed below which future or imminent fan failure can be inferred. The management device can receive the current speed of the fan and compare it with the safe fan speed to determine if the fan is likely to fail, in which case the management device can direct the computing device to perform mitigation action and/or a maintenance warning can be sent. The maintenance warning can result in replacement of the failing or soon-to-fail fan.

  • Patent number: 11296507
Abstract: Improved control of electrical power consumption is provided with “Smart Dim Fuses” (SDF) which can alter their output voltage as provided to the load circuits they are connected to. SDF units can replace conventional circuit breakers in electrical panels. The voltage control capability provided by SDF units can lead to improved control of electrical power consumption, since many loads can smoothly operate at lower power consumption when the voltage they are driven with decreases. SDF units can comply with relevant safety requirements, such as uninterrupted neutral connections between electrical mains and load circuits. SDF units can also provide a current limiting function that can substitute for the protective action of conventional circuit breakers.
