  • Patent number: 7468720
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device and a fabricating method thereof for lowering power consumption and integrating a driver on a substrate are disclosed. The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel having TFTs provided at crossings between gate lines and data lines on a substrate and connected in a zigzag pattern based on the gate lines, pixel electrodes connected to the thin film transistors, common electrodes making a horizontal electric field with the pixel electrodes, and common lines connected to the common electrodes and arranged substantially parallel to the gate lines. A gate driver applies a scanning pulse signal to the gate lines of the liquid crystal display panel. A data driver applies pixel voltage signals to the data lines. A common driver applies alternating current common voltage signals to the common lines. The gate driver and the common driver are integrated on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7453417
Abstract: A display device includes communication ports at its four corners. A data processor includes a communication port which can be connected to one of the communication ports of the display device. In a state where the data processor is in connection with the display device, the data processor reads data stored in the display device according to predetermined instructions of a user, performs processing according to the predetermined instructions, and transfers the processed data to the display device.

  • Patent number: 7450094
Abstract: The present invention relates to a light emitting device where currents passing through scan lines have the same values. The light emitting device includes data lines, scan lines, pixels, one or more dummy data line and a cross-talk preventing circuit. The data lines are disposed in a first direction, and the scan lines are disposed in a second direction. The pixels are formed in cross areas of the data lines and the scan lines. The dummy data line is disposed in the first direction. The cross-talk preventing circuit provides a compensating current to scan line related to luminescence of the scan lines through the dummy data line so that total sum of current passing through the scan line has a desired value. In the light emitting device, currents passing through scan lines have the same values, and so a cross-talk phenomenon is not occurred to a panel.

  • Patent number: 7411589
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a color liquid crystal display (CLCD). The apparatus includes a processor coupled to the CLCD for receiving a character code and a color code and translating them into character and color pixel arrays that are overlaid and summed to produce a composite pixel array corresponding to the CLCD pixel array, where each entry in the composite array is used in conjunction with a color table to establish drive levels for each pixel in the CLCD. The character pixel array includes gray level color mixing and the color pixel array includes spatial shading color mixing, so that the composite array uses both techniques to determine the individual CLCD pixel drive levels to provide a wider range of color choices without significant color dependence on viewing angle.

  • Patent number: 7259743
Abstract: A system for driving columns of a liquid crystal display includes logic circuitry operating in a supply path between a first and a second supply voltage in which the first supply voltage is higher than the second supply voltage. The logic circuitry is capable of generating first logic signals and second logic signals whose value is equal to the first or second supply voltage. The system includes two level shifters coupled to the logic circuitry and operating in a supply path between a third supply voltage greater than the first supply voltage and the second supply voltage; the level shifters are capable of raising the value of the second logic signals. The system also includes a first and a second pair of transistors having different supply paths and having an output terminal in common; the first and the second pair of transistors are coupled to the level shifters to determine the drive signal of a column.
