Patent number: 4475862Abstract: A vehicle for the temporary storage of refuse has a collecting section (12) which includes a basically vertical plate (20) which is moved in the longitudinal axis of the vehicle by a drive unit (21). The plate regulates the size of the storage space of the collecting section, so that during the feeding in of refuse, the feeding unit, located at the extreme rear of the vehicle, achieves the necessary compression of refuse. According to the invention, the frame of the vehicle is formed by the bottom part of the collecting section. Guiding and sliding units (35a,b) for the plate and a number of strengthening elements are also arranged in the collecting section. The strengthening sections assure the necessary mechanical stability in the bottom part and in planes through the guiding and sliding units. The guiding and sliding units preferably also serve as strengthening elements.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1982Date of Patent: October 9, 1984Assignee: B.A. Innovation AktiebolagInventors: Bertil Paulsson, Aarno Kyander

Patent number: 4465419Abstract: A method of measuring out a furnace charge of a predried and preheated coal in a closed system in which the coal is fed from a bottom discharge of a storage bunker into a filling cart container which is disposed therebeneath comprises opening the bottom discharge of the storage bunker to permit the fall of the coal from the bunker into the container while blocking off a portion of the filling container space until the remaining space in the filling container is filled and coal no longer flows through the bottom discharge and a column of coal remains in the discharge above the filling cart. A shutoff member is then directed through the column of coal in the bunker discharge above the filling cart container, to cut the column above the upper edge of the filling cart container, and opening the blocked-off portion in the filling cart container space to absorb the coal within the filling cart container.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1982Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Assignee: Firma Carl Still GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4460308Abstract: A system for loading coal or other particles into railroad cars wherein every other railroad car is designated an EVEN railroad car and the remaining every other railroad cars are designated ODD railroad cars. Each EVEN railroad car is weighed after being filled with coal and before the initiation of the loading of coal into the next EVEN railroad car to determine a filled weight. The filled weight of each EVEN railroad car is compared to a predetermined control weight and, in response to this determination, the termination of the loading of coal into the next EVEN railroad car controllably is varied to bring the filled weight closer to control weight. In a like manner, each ODD railroad car is weighed after being filled with coal and before the initiation of the loading of coal into the next ODD railroad car to determine a filled weight.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1982Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Kerr-McGee Coal CorporationInventors: Jack L. Patent number: 4459081Abstract: The operator of a lift truck or other load supporting vehicle (11) having a tiltable mast (12, 12a) is alerted as the mast (12, 12a) tilts beyond a predetermined orientation by a temporarily slowing of the rate of tilting movement. Return motion of the mast (12, 12a) may be unimpeded. The operator is reliably made aware when the mast (12, 12a) reaches a predetermined limit but may continue the tilting motion when that is necessary for such purposes as traveling the vehicle (11) under overhead obstructions. In systems where the mast (12, 12a) is tilted by fluid motors (20, 20a), the automatic tilt speed reduction may be realized with a valve (33, 33a) which temporarily introduces a one way flow restriction (49) into the fluid flow path (28, 28a) between the motors (20, 20a) and pressurized fluid source (27, 27a), the valve (33, 33a) being actuated by inclination sensing mechanism (23, 23a).Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1982Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Assignee: Cameron Iron Works, Inc.Inventor: Jerry L. Patent number: 4459080Abstract: Log handling attachments frequently encounter inadvertent log loss during transportation, and damage to the logs and the log handling forks (36,38) due to excessive loading. A log handling attachment (14) is provided which has a pair of log carrying forks (36,38), a clamp (48), an ejector (88), a first power device (50) actuatable to pivotally move the clamp (48) between open and closed positions (51,53), a second power device (93) actuatable to move the ejector (88) between log accepting and log rejecting positions (94,96), and an apparatus (70) actuatable to move the clamp between the closed position (53) and a log grappling position (86) relative to the ejector (88) at which the logs are elevationally supported above the forks (36,38). Thus the problems of log loss, log damage and fork failure is alleviated. The log handling attachment (14) is particularly suited for use on a lift mast (12) of a lift truck (10).Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1983Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Assignee: Towmotor CorporationInventors: Llewellyn L. Patent number: 4457424Abstract: Apparatus for moving a load along a floor in the course of loading and unloading vehicles. The apparatus includes a pull bar movable along a floor surface, winch driven cable drums, and cable connected between the drums and the pull bar so as to provide a pair of substantially parallel cable runs extending along each side of a load to be moved. Operation of the winch moves the pull bar against a load on the floor to slide the load as desired. The cable may comprise a single length of cable passed through rollers at the ends of the pull bar such that as the cable runs are drawn taut, the cable may run through the pulleys to automatically adjust the length of each cable run and equalize tension between the runs.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1981Date of Patent: July 3, 1984Inventor: Charles L. Wuensch

Patent number: 4456418Abstract: A device for aligning a pallet or similar article both horizontally and vertically to facilitate a transfer to a support located at a predetermined horizontal position and height comprises first and second banks of engagement rollers which have axes disposed substantially horizontally and which are movable toward and away respective opposite sides of the pallet to engage the pallet underside from each side. In addition, the apparatus includes a vertical alignment member in the form of first and second banks of rollers which extend obliquely and are movable in an oblique plane toward and away from the respective sides of the pallet to engage it at a selected vertical height. The surfaces of the horizontal aligning rollers and vertical aligning rollers engage and support the pallet at a selected intersecting vertical and horizontal plates along its side. The vertical aligning rollers which extend obliquely are advantageously offset from the rollers which have axes which extend horizontally.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1982Date of Patent: June 26, 1984Assignee: Ernst Wagner KG-FordertechnikInventors: Walter Harter, Karl Schumacher
