  • Patent number: 11750805
Abstract: Systems and methods for applying deblocking filters to reconstructed video data are disclosed. Sample values in adjacent reconstructed video blocks are modified according to multiple passes of a deblocking filter. A filtering pass may correspond to processing or constructing of all or subset of samples to be deblocked. • Patent number: 11743545
Abstract: Techniques of providing an interactive programming guide with a personalized lineup are disclosed. In some embodiments, a profile is accessed, and a personalized lineup is determined based on the profile. The personalized lineup may include a corresponding media content identification assigned to each one of a plurality of sequential time slots, where each media content identification identifies media content for the corresponding time slot. A first interactive programming guide may be caused to be displayed on a first media content device associated with the profile, where the first interactive programming guide includes the personalized lineup.

  • Patent number: 11743524
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of dynamically determining when to broadcast video content. The method includes providing one or more content parameters corresponding to broadcasted video content to a machine learning (ML) model, iteratively training the ML model to identify relationships between the one or more content parameters and viewership ratings associated with the broadcasted video content, receiving one or more content parameters corresponding to unaired video content, wherein the one or more content parameters include a desired platform for broadcasting the unaired video content, receiving viewership data associated with the unaired video content and/or the desired platform, providing the one or more content parameters and the viewership data to the trained ML model, and determining, via the trained ML model, a target time period for broadcasting the unaired video content on the desired platform that maximizes a projected viewership rating of the unaired video content.

  • Patent number: 11743535
Abstract: Methods and systems for packaging, transcoding, and fragmenting files (e.g., video content are described. Video content may be transcoded into fix size, variable duration fragments files that satisfy a target fragment file size. Those fragment files may be received, decoded to recover original frames of the underlying video, and then repackaged as new fragment files that are grouped based on overall file size. As a result, the new fragments may have different playback durations, but their overall file sizes may be the same and/or within a target fragment file size (TFS).

  • Patent number: 11722716
Abstract: One aspect of the instant application facilitates reduction of multicast group join latency. During operation, the system can receive, at a network device, a first multicast group leave packet corresponding to a first multicast group. In response to receiving a first multicast group leave packet from an IPTV client, the system can simulate a second multicast group join on behalf of the IPTV client by updating, based on a predictive model, at least an entry in a table maintained in hardware with a next likely multicast group that the IPTV client is likely to join; and sending a simulated second multicast group join packet for initiating an IPTV stream associated with the next likely multicast group. In response to receiving an actual second multicast group join packet from the IPTV client, the system can facilitate the IPTV stream to the IPTV client, thereby reducing multicast group join latency.

  • Patent number: 11716513
Abstract: An online system receives video data items from users and encodes the video data items using various codecs. To account for different computational resources used for encoding using different codecs, the online system ranks combinations of video data items by ratios of encoding video data items with different codecs to computational costs of encoding different video data items with different codecs. The benefit of encoding a video data item with a codec is based on a compression efficiency of the codec and a predicted aggregate amount of the video data item displayed to various users of the online system. Encoding video data items with codecs based on the determined ratios allows the online system to optimize a duration of video data having at least a threshold video quality to users.

  • Patent number: 11701566
Abstract: A smart mirror can show live or recorded streaming video of an instructor performing a workout in a package that is attractive and unobtrusive enough to hang in a living room. The smart mirror includes a mirror surface with a fully reflecting section and a partially reflecting section. A display behind the partially reflecting section shows the video when the smart mirror is on and is almost invisible when the smart mirror is off. The smart mirror also has a speaker, a microphone, and a camera to enable a user to view the video content and interact with the instructor. The smart mirror may connect to the user's smart phone, a peripheral device (e.g., a Bluetooth speaker) to augment user experience, a biometric sensor to provide biometric data to assess user performance, and/or a network router to connect the smart mirror to a content provider, an instructor, and/or other users.

  • Patent number: 11689758
Abstract: An addressable asset system (100) includes user equipment devices (UEDs) (102), a cloud decisioning system (CDS) (106) and a business data management system (BDMS) (108). The BDMS (108) collects information that is used by the CDS (106) to manage delivery of assets by the UEDs (102). In an exemplary network architecture, the CDS (106) is independent of the network insertion and delivery equipment. In particular, the broadcast content stream is delivered to the UED (102) by a digital content management(DCM) system (110) and certain assets are separately delivered to the UED (102) by the asset download network (AND) (112). This allows the CDS (106) to remain independent of the network of the UED (102) such that the CDS (106) can operate across networks.

  • Patent number: 11689722
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of decoding a current video block in a video picture. From several partitioning schemes, the method identifies a partitioning scheme that is used to partition the current video block. Based on the identified partitioning scheme, the method selects one derivation to compute a first quantization parameter for the current video block from several candidate derivations for computing the first quantization parameter. The method computes a second quantization parameter for the current video block based at least in part on the computed first quantization parameter. The method then uses the computed second quantization parameter to decode the current video block.

  • Patent number: 11675775
Abstract: Provided are methods, devices, and computer-program products for determining an accuracy score for a device mapping system. In some examples, the accuracy score can be based on a device map of the device mapping system and viewing data from an automated content recognition component. In such examples, the accuracy score can indicate whether the device mapping system is assigning similar categories to devices that have similar player of media content. In some examples, a device map can be determined to be random, indicating that the device mapping system is inaccurate. In contrast, if the device map is determined to have a sufficiently low probability of being merely random in nature, the device mapping system can be determined to be accurate.

  • Patent number: 11677969
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and an apparatus including processing circuitry that decodes coded information of a coding block (CB) in a picture from a coded video bitstream. The coded information indicates a width W and a height H of the CB. The processing circuitry partitions the CB into sub-processing units (SPUs) having a width being a minimum one of W and K and a height being a minimum one of H and K. At least one of the width W and the height H is larger than a processing data unit size K. The processing circuitry determines a partitioning structure to partition the SPUs based on the width, the height, and a maximum transform unit (TU) size M. At least one of the width and the height is larger than M. The processing circuitry partitions each of the SPUs into TUs of M×M based on the partitioning structure.

  • Patent number: 11638052
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to identify candidates for media asset qualification. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a media creditor to determine whether to credit a first media asset to linear media or non-linear media, the non-linear media including subscription video on demand (SVOD). Disclosed example apparatus also include a media asset candidate controller to: classify the first media asset as a non-candidate for media asset qualification in response to the first media asset being credited to the linear media or the non-linear media. In some examples, the media asset candidate controller is to determine whether to classify the first media asset as a candidate for media asset qualification based on whether the first media asset remains uncredited by the media creditor and the first media asset overlaps a streaming period.

  • Patent number: 11622151
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for recommending a media asset based on a geographic location at which that media asset was frequently consumed. For example, the system may monitor a location, such as New York City or Times Square, to determine popular media assets watched there, such as “The Avengers,” and when another user visits New York City, the system may then notify the user that the movie, such as “The Avengers,” is associated with New York City. The system stores the geographic locations associated with the media asset in the database based on the consumption of the media asset so that other users may be notified which media assets are associated with each geographic location.
