Patent number: 6332514Abstract: A mechanically actuated brake or a mechanically actuated clutch comprises a lever block (24) installed between a supporting member (22) and a first driving part (6), a voussoir (21) installed between the supporting member (22) and the lever block (24). Abutting against the supporting member (22), the voussoir (21) is connecting with an operating device and is moved by the operating device which is equipped with a restoring spring (11, 35) for resetting the voussoir (21) while the brake is relieved or the clutch is jointed. There are three force-bearing points (A, B, C) on the lever block (24) which may swing around the second force-bearing point (B) under the coition of the voussoir (21).Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2000Date of Patent: December 25, 2001Inventor: Kun Chen

Patent number: 6120010Abstract: A new air valve adapter for permitting connection of a standard tire air valve to the threaded air fitting of an air shock absorber. The inventive device includes a casing having first and second ends, an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface of the casing defines a central bore through the casing which extends between the first and second ends of the casing. The inner surface of the casing has a first threaded portion and a second threaded portion. The first threaded portion is positioned adjacent the first end of the casing. The second threaded portion is positioned adjacent the second end of the casing. The first threaded portion of the inner surface of the casing is designed for threadably engaging a threaded root end of an air valve inserted through the first end of the casing into the bore of the casing.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1998Date of Patent: September 19, 2000Inventor: Brian J. Patent number: 6007081Abstract: A sail apparatus for a bicycle comprises a pair of sail grids, each having a pivoting mechanism for pivotally attaching a leading edge portion of the sail grids to a frame of the bicycle. A control mechanism, interconnected with the sail grids via a pair of linkage arms, controls the position of the sail grids. A sail is removably secured about each of the sail grids to provide wind resistance. The sail grids are disposed proximate a rear wheel of the bicycle, and, when in a retracted position, are parallel to the rear wheel. For use, a bicyclist actuates the control mechanism, and the sail grids pivot about the pivoting mechanisms out and away from the rear wheel. The sail apparatus further includes a rear sail which has opposed ends thereof connected to second end portions of the sail grids for capturing more air during use of the sail apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1997Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Inventors: Timothy L. Patent number: 5634532Abstract: The braking system for movable container or trolley (1) is formed from three different, separate modules, namely in each case one brake module (20) on each brakeable wheel, at least one pedal module (30) and a connecting and transmission module (40) with sliding rods (42) connecting the pedal modules to all the brake modules. The brake module is operated by means of working surfaces (46) on the sliding rods (42) and has a lifting device (22) for operating the wheel brake (25). This leads to a rational, easily installable and easily operable braking system with reliable braking characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Bucher Management AGInventor: Peter Bucher

Patent number: 5423267Abstract: A rerailing device for rerailing a wheel of a railcar or the like which has been derailed due to a spread rail comprising an L-shaped metal bar member including a vertically disposed bar portion and a horizontally disposed bar portion which extends horizontally from the upper end of the vertically disposed bar portion. A vertically disposed flat metal plate is secured to one side of the vertically disposed bar portion and extends horizontally therefrom beneath one side of the horizontally disposed bar portion. The rerailer may be of the left-hand or right-hand type to enable the rerailer to be mounted at either end of a rail joint bar so that the derailed wheel may be brought into engagement therewith and moved upwardly thereonto to retail the derailed wheel.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1993Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Inventor: Byron G. Patent number: 5407244Abstract: In a motor vehicle, there are arranged abreast first and second seats. Each seat includes a seat cushion, a seatback pivotally connected to the seat cushion, and a power reclining device for pivoting the seatback to a desired angular position. A load transmitting center structure is mounted on the vehicle floor between the first and second seats. A manual switch is used which, when operated, pivots the seatback of the second seat to a desired angular position. At least the second seat has a reinforcing structure installed therein. The reinforcing structure exhibits the maximum performance in cooperation with the load transmitting center structure when the seatback of the second seat is within a given angular range.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1993Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignee: Ikeda Bussan Co., Ltd.Inventors: Nobuyuki Nakano, Nobuhiko Takahashi

Patent number: 5332297Abstract: A microprocessor-based locomotive brake control system having an electropneumatic brake pipe pressure regulating circuit via which a train brake pipe pressure is controlled and a normally closed charging cut-off valve between the brake pipe regulating circuit anad the brake pipe. The charging cut-off valve is electropneumatically controlled in order to effect opening of the normally closed charging cut-off valve on a controlling locomotive. An arrangement is provided for maintaining the charging cut-off valve open when electric power is lost on a controlling locomotive, while providing for closure of the charging cut-off valve on a non-controlling locomotive irrespective of the presence or absence of electric power.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1993Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Assignee: Westinghouse Air Brake CompanyInventors: Brian L.
