  • Patent number: 11288420
Abstract: Method and systems for executing an interactive computer simulation of a simulated vehicle. A central repository comprises a synthetic natural environment database (SNEDB) that comprises data for a plurality of geographically-located terrain skin representations of a computer generated. A remote data management system maintains the remote repository comprising a subset of the SNEDB accessible to an interactive computer simulation station. The interactive computer simulation station sends, over the network, a data request for geographical locations from the SNEDB and allows users to interact in the interactive computer simulation for controlling the simulated vehicle. The remote data management system computes a plurality of expected geographical positions for the first simulation station and anticipatorily updates, via the network, the subset of the SNEDB stored in the remote repository with a supplemental subset of the SNEDB corresponding to one or more of the computed expected geographical positions.

  • Patent number: 11288981
Abstract: A set of simulator hardware and software provide a realistic training environment for pressure equalization tube delivery to a tympanic membrane using a semi-automated pressure equalization tube delivery device (“PETDD”). An anatomically realistic ear model is attached to a touch sensitive display so that the ear model aligns with a displayed virtual image of the middle ear, creating a realistic view through the ear canal of the ear model. A training PETDD and other devices of the simulator provide pressure and location data for the training PETDD as a trainee inserts the PETDD tip into the ear canal to rest against the virtual TM and simulate a PE tube delivery event. Resulting data is examined to determine whether the simulated delivery would have been successful if it had been a real scenario.

  • Patent number: 11246436
Abstract: Training chopsticks are designed to guide beginners and lifelong users alike to adopt a proper chopstick grip, allowing learners to extend chopstick tips wide apart. They allow learners to focus first on mastering the twirling of chopsticks between the closed posture to the wide-open posture, based on principles of the planetary gear train, without having to simultaneously learn to secure chopsticks using the required thumb pose. Such thumb pose can be mastered later as a second step. Furthermore, a variation of training chopsticks provides an elevated thumb rest to accommodate learners suffering from anatomical limitations. As a result, a learner can wield these training chopsticks to embrace large food items with ease, manipulate these large items with dexterity and finesse in the same way she can small items, and generate enough compression force to hold all items firmly between training chopsticks.

  • Patent number: 11243651
Abstract: A personal electronic device is adapted to construct data tables from user input received over time relating to translations of translatable items from a first language to a second language. Entries in a data table for a user are dynamic and may indicate likelihoods of the user correctly translating translatable items as a function of time. Each translatable item may have a different time-dependent likelihood of a correct translation. Operation of the personal electronic device for a user may be based in part on the acquired, time-dependent likelihoods for that user, so that information may be presented to the user in a more efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 11235413
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a remotely controlled welding machine that uses serializing and modulating circuits to transfer modulated data packets to a welding power source across a weld cable. A transmitter transmits the data packets of desired welding operational parameters to a receiver disposed in the power source across a weld cable also designed to carry welding power from the power source to the wire feeder. The transmitter and other electronics of the wire feeder are constructed to use only a small amount of power which, preferably, is supplied by a DC power supply external to the wire feeder. The DC power supply is designed to provide power to the electronics of the wire feeder when the wire feeder is in a standby mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 11235412
Abstract: An apparatus includes a welding torch, a laser capable of projecting a beam towards a seam on a surface, a camera directed towards the surface, a memory, and a processor. The processor receives an image of the surface from the camera. Next, the processor determines, based on the reflection of the laser beam from the surface, a vertical distance from the torch to the seam. The processor adjusts the brightness and contrast of the image, applies a gamma correction, and applies at least one gradient filter to the image to produce a new image. Next, the processor determines a horizontal location of the seam in the new image, which it uses to determine a horizontal distance from the torch to the seam. Based on the vertical and horizontal distances from the torch to the seam, the processor adjusts a vertical and a horizontal position of the torch.
