A singular integrally formed spring mechanism and valve poppet replaces the two-piece embodiment previously employed for the self-sealing valve. A u-shaped channel on the poppet receives the valve seat in the coupling to seal off the flow of liquid when the poppet is pushed into the closed position. A plurality of petaloid segments connect the poppet to a circumferential ring surrounding the petaloid segments and provide a spring force to the poppet to move the poppet between the open and closed positions.

Control means are provided to enable a user to select a flavour mix from one of the dedicated flavour cartridges, and to cause the base and selected flavour mix to be mixed in the dedicated mixing chamber and then storing and refrigerating the mixture of the base and flavour mix in the storage slots to form a mixed frozen soft-serve confection for dispensing.

The spout collar and link are configured to rotate the spout cover in a direction opposite a rotation of the spout as the spout initially rotates from a stowed position to an in-use position; as the spout continues to rotate toward the in-use position the spout cover reverses rotation and rotates toward the spout to cover an inners space of the lid previously occupied by the spout. When the spout achieves the in-use position the spout cover covers the space occupied by the spout when the spout is in the stowed position. As the spout is rotated from the in-use position toward the stowed position, the spout collar and the link cause the spout cover to open and rotate away from the spout.
