  • Patent number: 4122660
Abstract: An alarm clock has associated with it an alarm and a snow-sensing means for detecting an accumulation of snow. The clock is provided with means for setting an alarm at two individually presettable times, one of which is set for normal waking and the other set in advance of the first to alert the sleeping user at a time earlier than the preset normal wakeup time when there has been an accumulation of snow while he slept.

  • Patent number: 4117657
Abstract: An electronic timepiece calendar circuit whereby the display of at least the date is automatically effected during both leap years and non-leap years is provided. The electronic timepiece calendar circuitry includes a date counter that is indexed by a count of one from a count of one to at least 31 and thereafter is returned to a count of one to begin counting the dates of the next month. A month counter is provided for being indexed by one through a count of one to at least 12 each time the date counter is returned to a count of one and further is adapted to produce a signal representative of the count thereof. A control circuit is provided for receiving the month signal produced by the month counter and in response thereto returns the count of the day counter to one when the count of the month counter is two and the date counter is changed from 28 to 29 or from 30 to 31 depending on whether a leap year signal is applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 4114730
Abstract: A transportation system, illustrated as an elevator system, including a programmable processor for controlling the operation of the elevator car. The processor generates all the control signals to an elevator control means in response to the reception of service condition signals representing data on the status of the elevator system components. Where two or more elevator cars are grouped together for servicing a plurality of common stations, each car has an associated processor and one processor is designated as the master processor. The master processor is programmed to assign the hall calls at the stations to its associated elevator car or to a selected one of the various other elevator cars through their processors designated as slave processors.

  • Patent number: 4079298
Abstract: Open-loop means for controlling the speed of a d.c. motor controlled print head moving across a document. A switch couples a first voltage to the d.c. motor to accelerate the print head in a first direction. When the print head reaches the desired velocity, the first voltage is decoupled from the motor and a highly regulated voltage is coupled to the d.c. motor to move the print head at the desired velocity. The switch reverses the voltage polarity at the input terminals of the d.c. motor to decelerate the print head, accelerate it in the opposite direction and maintain the desired velocity as it moves in the reverse direction. Logic means detects the direction of carriage movement and connects the first voltage to the d.c. motor for an interval sufficient to bring the d.c. motor to the desired speed in the shortest practical interval. The second voltage maintains the constant speed until the print head reaches the end of the line.

  • Patent number: 3974348
Abstract: A switch is disclosed which comprises a rockable switch actuating element having contacts and a fixed switch terminal means. The rockable element is moved by operation of a lock of which the rotor has an eccentric extension disposed within and cooperating with an opening in said rockable actuating member so that upon insertion of the key into the rotor and turning of that rotor, the actuating element is moved to effect switching.
