  • Patent number: 8817627
Abstract: Methods and systems for load sharing signaling messages at the MTP level are disclosed. When a signaling message is received, it is determined whether the signaling message includes a routing indication indicating route-on-point-code-subsystem-number. If the routing indicator indicates route-on-point-code-subsystem-number, it is determined whether the signaling message belongs to an MTP level 3 load sharing group. If the signaling message belongs to an MTP level 3 load sharing group, the signaling message may be routed to any of the point codes in the MTP level 3 load sharing group. Routing the signaling message to a point code in the MTP level 3 load sharing group may include replacing the destination point code in the signaling message with the destination point code of the node to which the signaling message is to be routed. Once the point code has been replaced, the signaling message is routed to the destination associated with the point code.

  • Patent number: 8804547
Abstract: An analysis of a communication configuration in a process control (PC) or substation automation (SA) system is disclosed, wherein network messages, and/or respective message sources, configured for transmission across a communication network of the system can be evaluated. From a logical data flow description that is part of a standardized configuration representation of the PC or SA system and which includes, in the form of control blocks, formal information for every message, receiver intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) can be retrieved or determined. For each retrieved receiver IED, the totality of all network messages destined for or directed to this particular receiver IED can be evaluated or processed (e.g. in view of a subsequent network load analysis, virtual local area network assignment, or graphical display of the data flow).

  • Patent number: 8804624
Abstract: A wireless communication device including a first transceiver, a second transceiver, and a coexistence module. The first transceiver transmits a first signal and operates according to a first wireless communication standard. The second transceiver selects a first channel of multiple channels and transmits a second signal on the first channel. The second transceiver operates according to a second wireless communication standard. The first channel is associated with a frequency. The coexistence module, based on the frequency of the first channel, alters a transmission characteristic of the first signal to be transmitted by the first transceiver and alters a transmission characteristic of the second signal to be transmitted by the second transceiver. The transmission characteristic of the first signal and the transmission characteristic of the second signal, as altered by the coexistence module, prevent interference with the first signal and the second signal.

  • Patent number: 8797883
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing timeout events in a packet network are disclosed. For example, the method detects a timeout event by a first network element, wherein the timeout event is generated due to a lack of response from a second network element. The method then determines whether a threshold for reporting of timeouts is exceeded for the second network element. The method then generates a report by the first network element to a fault management system if the threshold is exceeded, where the report indicates that the second network element has exceeded the threshold for reporting of timeouts.

  • Patent number: 8792390
Abstract: A method for acquiring information includes: receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) address acquisition request or Packet Data Network (PDN) address allocation information sent by User Equipment (UE); determining a PDN address capability according to the IP address acquisition request or the PDN address allocation information; and sending the determined PDN address capability to the UE. An UE and network equipment are also provided. The PDN address capability is determined by the network and is sent to the UE, so as to indicate to the UE the IP address information that may be acquired in a current PDN connection, such that when the network cannot provide an IP address for the UE any more, the UE is prevented from acquiring other IP addresses in other manners, avoiding service abnormality.

  • Patent number: 8787205
Abstract: A system and method for multicast transmission are disclosed. In one embodiment, a virtual exchange network including interconnected nodes is embedded within a network. A sender is disposed in communication with a root node and receivers are disposed in communication with a set of edge nodes. The sender publishes a packetized data stream to which the receivers subscribe. The packetized data stream is promulgated by implicit signaling through optimum virtual exchange network connections from the sender through the virtual exchange network to the receivers. The interconnected nodes, responsive to receiving the published packetized data stream, are adapted to multicast N instances of the published packetized data stream to N recipients selected from the group consisting of receivers and other of the interconnected nodes.

  • Patent number: 8774048
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for link management to enable multimedia content mobility. More specifically, an apparatus may implement these techniques. The apparatus may comprise one or more wireless modems and a control unit. The one or more wireless modems receive multimedia content over a first wireless communication channel from a first application and establish a second wireless communication channel for communicating with a second application. The control unit then determines channel data corresponding to one or more characteristics associated with the second wireless communication channel and configures the at least one of the wireless modems based on the channel data. The configured at least one of the wireless modems forwards the received multimedia content to the second application to facilitate multimedia content mobility.
