Abstract: Devices and methods for tissue and graft procedures are provided that are designed to fail under a certain amount of force, providing sensory feedback that a particular activity may be providing too much stress on a surgical implant. For example, a surgical implant can include a sacrificial element in the form of a filament designed to break when a certain threshold value of force is met or exceeded, while a second filament that has the ability to withstand higher values of force, is able to maintain the repair after the first filament fails. In other embodiments, the sacrificial element includes a filament engagement mechanism associated with a suture anchor configured to fail at a threshold value of force, and a second filament engagement mechanism of the anchor can maintain the repair after the first one fails. Many implants configurations are provided, as are various surgical methods incorporating sacrificial elements.

Abstract: The wax warmer with automated stirring combines the heating element and wax temperature control with a rotating wax reservoir. The rotating wax reservoir causes the associated stored wax to rotate with respect to the body of the device. To interrupt the flow of the wax within the rotating reservoir, and cause mixing and stirring, a stationary stir stick is placed in the path of rotation. As the moving wax contacts the stationary stir stick, turbulence is caused, resulting in mixing. The mixing helps to maintain a consistent temperature of wax within the reservoir. The stir stick is preferably held in position by a slot within the lid, removal of the lid causing removal of the stir stick, removing the stir stick as an obstacle to the user accessing the wax within the vessel.
Abstract: A device for treatment of a vascular defect within a patient's vasculature includes a self-expanding permeable shell having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis, the shell comprising a plurality of elongate resilient filaments having a braided structure, wherein the filaments are secured at at least one of the proximal end or the distal end of the permeable shell, wherein the permeable shell has a radially constrained elongated state configured for delivery within a microcatheter and has an expanded state with an axially shortened configuration relative to the radially constrained state, the permeable shell having a plurality of openings formed between the braided filaments, wherein the permeable shell in its expanded state comprises a plurality of circumferentially-arrayed lobes.
Abstract: Devices and methods for anchoring soft tissue, tissue grafts, and the like to a bone are provided. In one example, an assembly includes a suture anchor, suture, and inserter. In another example, a method provides for reattaching soft tissue to a bone.
Abstract: A method of suturing includes: (1) wrapping a first segment of a suture through a traction loop; (2) pulling the traction loop and the first segment through an opening in a suture lock; (3) continuing to pull the traction loop such that a second segment of the suture extends through the opening, wherein the second segment has a greater denier than the first segment such that the second segment more nearly fills an entire dimension of the opening than the first segment; and (4) locking the suture in place with the second segment in the opening.
Abstract: Various embodiments of a stereotactic coordinate adjuster system and associated method for positional adjustment of components of a stereotactic system are disclosed herein. The system provides fine adjustment to the stereotactic system by providing form-fitting components that encapsulate components of the stereotactic system and allow for fine positional adjustment of an arc support member and a slide portion of the stereotactic system.
