    Abstract: A primary multi-layer structural component having insulation properties and the method of producing same is disclosed. The structure is comprised of opposing spaced apart face sheets, a plurality of internal core sheets, the core sheets being spaced apart from each other and from the face sheets. Truss means extend internally across the structure, the truss means being connected to and supporting the opposing face sheets, and being integrally connected to and supporting the core sheets. Such structure is produced by forming a stack of metal sheets in contact with each other, including a pair of outer face sheets and a plurality of core sheets positioned between the face sheets, and providing a predetermined stop-off pattern by placing stop-off material in certain preselected areas between the contacting surfaces of adjacent faces sheets and core sheets, and of adjacent core sheets.

    Abstract: A process for producing a galvanneal layer on a steel substrate, including forming a Zn-Fe coating having a predetermined Fe content F (wt. %) on the steel substrate; and heat treating the Zn-Fe coating on the substrate from a predetermined starting temperature T.sub.1 (.degree.C.) to a predetermined ending temperature T.sub.2 (.degree.C.) at a predetermined heating rate R (.degree.C./min.), wherein F, T.sub.1, T.sub.2, and R are selected so that the following condition is met,a.R.sup.2 +b.T.sup.2 +c.R.F.+d.R.T +e.R+f.T=gwhere a, b, c, d, e, f and g are predetermined constants, thereby to form a virtually 100% .delta..sub.1 phase galvanneal structure. Alternatively, the heat treatment can be preformed until the specimen temperature is just below a minimum temperature of the .delta..sub.1 phase stability range at at selected Fe content and heating rate, followed by an isothermal hold for a predetermined time period until transformation to the .delta..sub.1 phase occurs.

The sealing means can include a compressible fibrous refractory sleeve fastened to the pipe adjacent an inlet end thereof. The sealing means can also comprise an array of compressible seal rings made of a compliant graphite material mounted on the pipe adjacent an inlet end of the pipe.

The hearth roll is provided a wear resistant coating of chrome plate or sprayed on ceramic of a thickness greater than or equal to 1 .mu.m and less than or equal to 100 .mu.m. In addition, according to the invention, the hearth roll is provided a surface roughness Ra in the range of 4.5 .mu.m to 20 .mu.m.

In order to facilitate the application of the flux to the pieces to be brazed, polybutene is used as a dispersing agent.
