Abstract: An Internet enabled, business-to-business computerized transaction system is disclosed in its preferred embodiment for use in providing rental car services for high volume users and comprises an Internet web portal through which the high volume user may access a plurality of service providers including an integrated business computer network for at least one rental vehicle service provider. The rental vehicle services provider computer network is configured to interconnect a geographically diverse plurality of branch offices, cataloguing their available rental vehicles and schedules for same as well as handling all transactional data relating to its business. The Internet web portal provides ubiquitous connectivity and portability for a multi-level business organization who regularly places high volumes of rental purchases with its business partner and also those other service providers who may or may not have the same integrated business computer system and software.

Abstract: A system for accessing pharmacy data and ordering prescriptions via a network includes a network server; an application server connected to the network server; a database connected to the application server, the database containing information concerning drugs and personal information concerning one or more of the customers, wherein the personal information includes a prescription drug history of each respective one of the one or more customers; and an intranet server that is connected to the application server, one or more member pharmacies and one or more shipping facilities; wherein the application server is configured to: cause a browser to display to the customer the information concerning drugs and personal information concerning that customer and display an option for the drug associated with the prescription order to be picked up at one of the one or more member pharmacies or shipped to a postal address.

Abstract: A system and method facilitate alignment of refill dates associated with a plurality of prescriptions, and determine the cost to the customer for the alignment of the plurality of prescriptions. The system may determine the cost to the customer by evaluating one or more of the number of prescriptions aligned, the types of medications prescribed by the aligned prescriptions, the quantity of medication supplied in any intermediate fills between the last adjudication date and the alignment adjudication date, the particular medications prescribed by the aligned prescriptions, and the number of prescriptions aligned. The system may also evaluate one or more rules or contracts related to one or more third-party payors in determining the cost to the customer for alignment.

Abstract: A computer implemented method is disclosed for receiving employee usage information associated with at least one employee's usage of a wellness program. A status level associated with the at least one employee for the wellness program is determined based on the employee usage information. A status level indicates a degree of participation in the wellness program. A data set is created comprising at least the status level associated with the at least one employee. The data set is in a format acceptable by a payroll vendor without conversion of the data set. The data set is then sent to an employer of the at least one employee.

Abstract: Methods of assessing risk based on medical data are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a method of assessing risk associated with medical data includes creating a dataset representing a plurality of patients, the dataset comprising (x,y) pairs for each patient, wherein x represents the medical data collected at a first time, and wherein y is an outcome measurement collected at a second time; binning the (x,y) pairs to form a plurality of binned data sets; computing an average value for x and an average value for y for each binned data set; determining a minimum average value of y based on all of the average values of y; subtracting the minimum average value of y from each average value of y to get a new average value of y for each binned data set; and deriving a function for assessing risk associated with the medical data.

Abstract: A high-performance capability assessment model helps a Medicaid program meet the challenges of the health market. As a result, the Medicaid program can achieve the clarity, consistency, and well-defined execution of core processes that reduce inefficiencies and waste that result from unnecessary process complexity and exceptions. In addition, the high-performance capability assessment model helps the Medicaid program to identify specific areas in which improvements may be made, to understand how to make said improvements, and to establish levels of capability along the way to reaching an ultimate capability goal.

Abstract: A method for providing a user with a web-based service to access and collect records associated with the user in a secure and private manner, the method including assigning through a web site a phone number, assigning through the web site a user account to the user, associating access information with the user, creating through the web site a document for the user to provide to the service provider requesting the service provider to send the records to the phone number and granting the service provider permission to send the records to the phone number, receiving by the service provider the document from the user to provide the service provider permission to send the records to the phone number, and sending by the service provider a private fax communication to the phone number.

Abstract: A method for providing a user with a service to access and collect personal health records associated with the user in a private manner through use of a user account may include assigning a destination address associated with the user account of the user for receiving private communications from at least one health care provider, associating access information with the user account of the user, providing authorization to the health care provider to send personal health records to the destination address, receiving a private communication from one of the at least one health care providers at the web site, storing the personal health record such that the personal health record is accessible through the web site. The method may further include receiving authorization from the user to send to the web site and sending a personal health record to the web site.

Abstract: Unfilled prescriptions are submitted to a registry comprising pre-qualified pharmacies for a “reverse auction” in which the pharmacies bid for the opportunity to fill the prescription. The pharmacies are allowed to bid based on price and/or offering ancillary services. The auction may also be used to bid on supplying specified pharmaceutical cognitive services. The method may also include obtaining cost comparisons with generic substitutes or similar alternative pharmaceutical products. The system may further comprise automatically requesting a review by the prescriber for a list of similar substitutes or prior-authorization for third-party payers. The winner of the reverse auction is selected by the customer.

Abstract: A method for consistent processing of pharmacy data. An order for a prescription is transmitted from a healthcare facility to a pharmacy. The pharmacy transmits a claim relating to the order from the pharmacy to a processing center. The processing center reviews the claim according to predetermined claim criteria and either accepts the claim if it conforms to the claim criteria or rejects the claim if it does not conform to the claim criteria. The processing center transmits one of an approval notification and a rejection notification to the pharmacy. For rejected claims, the processing center transmits at least one basis for the rejection to the pharmacy. The pharmacy corrects the non-conforming portion of the claim, then transmits the corrected claim to the processing center. The claim review and approval or rejection steps are then repeated until the claim conforms to the predetermined claim criteria.

Abstract: An Internet-enabled rental vehicle reservation management method and system are disclosed. Via the system and method, authorization limits can be assigned to the users who create and manage replacement rental vehicle reservations through the system, where these authorization limits impose financial commitment monetary limits that the users can make on replacement rental vehicle reservations over a specified period of time. In an exemplary embodiment, these authorization limits are customized on a per user basis.

Abstract: A method for measuring physician efficiency and patient health risk stratification is disclosed. Episodes of care are formed from medical claims data and an output process is performed. Physicians are assigned to report groups, and eligible physicians and episode assignments are determined. Condition-specific episode statistics and weighted episode statistics are calculated, from which physician efficiency scores are determined.

Abstract: There is provided a method for producing a price competitive health care system. A website, which is hosted on a computer server, is created for establishing a health care network. Providers are solicited to join the health care network and a plurality of providers apply by sending applications, including credentials, to the website from the providers' computers via the internet. The credentials of the providers are examined. Those with appropriate credentials are approved. The approved providers send to the website a number equal to the percentage of a known index which the approved providers are willing to charge for their goods and/or services. The website is accessed by patients who may be interested in purchasing the services or the goods of one or more of the approved providers, which access is accomplished from the patients' computers via the internet.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing sample prescriptions electronically and creating a complete data set of information regarding the life-cycle of the sample prescription. In one embodiment, a sample prescription system comprises a management module that stores files corresponding to sample prescriptions. Each corresponding file is linked to a unique sample code. The sample code and linked file together comprise an electronic history of the sample's life-cycle, which is built dynamically over time into a comprehensive code containing all information relevant to a prescribed sample and its path to consumption.

Abstract: A method and computer program product is provided that, in various embodiments, may provide a measure of efficiency of resources used in medical treatment plan options. A normalized Relative Resource Value (RRV) may be obtained that measures the level of resources required to satisfy a “normal” case for a particular aspect of medical care. Applying this value against actual costs allows ranking and/or comparison of health care providers relative to one another on the basis of the price or resources applied or utilized. Moreover, applying the RRV against the quality of outcome allows comparison and ranking of providers on overall value. The invention may be applied to the components of medical care comprising, inter alia, acute inpatient, non-acute inpatient, outpatient, professional office-based care including scheduled outpatient, and pharmacy/prescriptions.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for tracking and monitoring a patient's compliance with a medical device usage prescription for a medical device is disclosed. This method and system includes the steps of: (a) providing a minimum medical device usage compliance value for the medical device for a predetermined compliance period; (b) providing the quantity of compliance periods in a measurement cycle; and (c) determining a compliance period value as the number of compliance periods in the measurement cycle in which an actual medical device usage value is at least equal to the minimum medical device usage compliance value. In another embodiment, the method also includes: providing a weighting factor, and applying the weighting factor to at least one actual medical device session usage value.

Abstract: A computer system that extracts health care data from one or more health care payors to identify meaningful relationships or patterns in treatments to compare the effectiveness of various treatment of specific diseases is provided. This computer system includes a computer and a staging database. The computer is configured to communicate with one or more payor computer systems of a type that includes one or more databases storing records of the health care data from one or more payors over the Internet. The staging database is in communication with the computer and is configured to receive the health care data from each of the payor computer systems. The health care data from each of the payor computer systems is configured to be converted into a normalized format. The normalized data is the made available to determine comparative effectiveness of various treatments of specific diseases.

The method includes assigning a phone number to the user for private fax and voice communications from service providers, associating access information with the user for the user to use to access a web site, receiving a private fax communication comprising a record associated with the user for which the user has requested and given permission to the service provider to send to the phone number, converting the private fax communications into an image file format, storing the record encoded in the image file format, and providing the user with access to the web site using the access information and providing on the web site an interface to the records of the user for the user to access the record.
