Patent number: 4878819Abstract: A tie rod type cylinder valved at its lower plate and having a receiver on its upper plate. A rod-less trunk-like piston containing an inlet valve with a stem projecting out of the cylinder and connected with an actuator. The piston face having an opening acting as a valve seat. A capillary vent tube connecting the top of the cylinder with the mouth of the receiver. When the cylinder is filled to a stop, the actuator is activated, which closes the inlet valve and drives down the stem/valve/piston and it evacuates the cylinder. A flexible discharge line conveys the liquid into a nearby drain pipe or receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1988Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Inventor: Edward Bozoyan

Patent number: 4875836Abstract: The pump apparatus comprises a pump, suction device and a pressure container. The suction device is constructed as a structural unit and can be inserted coaxially from above into the pressure container. The pump likewise is constructed as a structural unit which can be inserted from above with self-centering and self-sealing connections coaxially into a hollow compartment of the suction device and is connectable therewith. By means of threaded bolts which, upon lowering the suction device, piercingly extend through bores provided at a ring flange of the suction device, the inserted suction device can be connected with the pressure container. If the need exists this can be accomplished by remotely controlled manipulator expedients.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1988Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: K. Patent number: 4872816Abstract: A diaphragm pump is mounted on a frame or bracket. The inlet of the diaphragm pump connects with a flexible hose or tubing having a probe designed to fit into a vehicle fluid passage such as the dip stick passage associated with the oil pan of a vehicle. The outlet to the diaphragm pump is connected to one of a pair of based hollow tube members designing part of a bracket for support of the pump. Each hollow tube has a generally S shape configuration and is connected to the other tube by cross braces. One of the hollow tubes has the dual function of acting as a support bracket for the diaphragm pump assembly and as a fluid conduit, which is connected to the diaphragm pump outlet at one end and defines a discharge passage into a container at the opposite end. The bracket assembly may thus be supported on a drum or other container by the bracket members with one of the bracket members serving as the discharge tube into the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: October 10, 1989Assignee: The Aro CorporationInventor: Michael Fetcko

Patent number: 4865156Abstract: Method and apparatus for changing oil in an internal combustion engine pierces an outer wall of an old oil filter containing old motor oil to form an opening in a lower portion of the filter wall. Old motor oil is drawn from the pierced oil filter into a container by suction through the filter wall opening and a suction conduit. The oil drain plug from a crankcase containing old motor oil is removed to form a drain opening in the crankcase, and old motor oil is drawn from the crankcase into a container by suction through the drain opening and a suction cup, to empty the crankcase of old motor oil. The drain opening is closed after emptying the crankcase of old motor oil by securing the drain plug in the drain opening. The pierced and drained old oil filter is replaced with a new filter and the drained crankcase is refilled with fresh motor oil.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Inventor: Denzil C. Patent number: 4865518Abstract: This invention relates to ejector pumps, thrust- and lift-augmenting ejectors, and, more generally, to devices that are capable of inducing the flow of a fluid through direct transfer of energy and momentum to it from jets of another fluid. The efficiency of the energy exchange is increased if it is made to take place, at least in part, through the nondissipative work of interface pressure forces. This invention describes a method and apparatus for the generation, control, and utilization of this nondissipative component. The method described here imparts a transverse, paddle-like motion to the energizing jets without, however, imparting the same motion to the fluid particles that make up the jets themselves, hence at no cost in energy input. Energy is transferred from these "fluid paddles" to the surrounding fluid largely through the work of interface pressure forces.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Inventor: Joseph V. Patent number: 4861236Abstract: This invention comprises a birotational pump for the movement of air fluid through a conventional pumping mechanism. It is comprised of cylindrical piston housing, a pump shaft running through the piston housing, a piston linkage assembly secured to the pump shaft, a pair of valve plates which cover the ends of the piston housing and a cylindrical pump housing surrounding the piston housing to allow for the free movement of the piston and piston linkage. This invention will permit the free flow of fluid or air through the piston housing by creating a suction chamber in the piston housing. The fluid enters the valve plates which contain openings which line up with openings in the piston housing. As the shaft rotates the openings on the first end of the piston housing cease to line up with openings in the piston housing and openings in the second end line up to expel the fluid contained within the chamber of the piston housing cirutier of rotation of shaft can be changed.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Inventors: Ryon Kustes, Alan M. Patent number: 4848518Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for preventing leakage of a fluid such as a lubricant from a gear case. In this method and apparatus, the ambient pressure inside the gear case is maintained slightly lower than the air pressure outside the gear case. By maintaining this pressure differential, air flows from outside the gear case into the gear case through any openings from which lubricant would otherwise leak. Leakage of the lubricant through such openings in the gear case is thereby prevented.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1988Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Assignee: AM International, Inc.Inventors: John H.
