Abstract: The invention concerns a method for evaluating port design of an engine cylinder head by viewing patterns of fluid flow therefrom into a transparent chamber simulating an engine combustion chamber. A permeable member in the chamber simulates the position of a piston in a related engine and allows a continuous flow to be generated through the chamber. Lightweight members are deposited within the chamber to be visually observed as they move with the fluid flow in the chamber.
