  • Patent number: 5832212
Abstract: A censoring browser method and apparatus are provided for internet viewing. A user profile including user selected censoring parameters is stored. Data packet contents are received and compared with the user selected censoring parameters. Responsive to the comparison, the received data packet contents are processed and selectively displayed responsive to the user selected censoring parameters. The user selected censoring parameters includes user selected censored words and word fragments, and user selected categories. Compared word and word fragments matching user selected censored words and word fragments can be removed and selectively replaced with predefined characters or acceptable substitute words. Tallies of weights for user selected categories are accumulated and compared with used selected threshold values. A predefined message can be displayed responsive to an accumulated tally exceeding a user selected threshold value without displaying the received data packet contents.

  • Patent number: 5799142
Abstract: A multi-task program debugging system comprises program converting section 13, with a multi-task program being entered, for generating a multi-task converting program 15 for collating the contents of arrayed data to be processed in parallel and, with a serial program being entered, a serial converting program 14 for saving the contents of arrayed data in the corresponding position. A collated data saving section 16 saves, when the serial converting program 14 is being executed, the contents of data into a collated data file 17 in the positions of data collation. A data collating section 18 collates, when the multi-task converting program 15 is being executed, the contents of data with the collated data file 17 in data collating positions.

  • Patent number: 5606663
Abstract: A password updating system sets the available period and the updating period of the password for each individual user according to the frequency of his accesses to the computer system, and manages password updating by urging the user in advance to change his password on the basis of these periods. There is a chronometric unit; and a password hysteresis memory unit for memorizing and managing passwords and their available periods. An update processing unit checks the input password, requests reentry if the same password exists or updates it if no same password exists, invalidates the current password if the updating period of the password has expired, and also validates invalidated passwords. There is a comparator unit for comparing the available periods of passwords and notifying the update processing unit of a request to update the password.

  • Patent number: 5416920
Abstract: In an extended buffer memory shared among a plurality of processors and operable to carry out a data transfer operation to and from one of the plurality of processors which is logically connected to the extended buffer memory, each of a plurality of connection information indicating means indicates whether or not each of the plurality of processors is logically connected to the extended buffer memory. Test information indicating means indicates, by test information having a predetermined logic value, that one of the processors is capable of carrying out a test. The test information having the predetermined logic value is capable of setting the test information indicating means when all of the plurality of connection information indicating means indicates that all of the plurality of processors are logically disconnected from the extended buffer memory.

  • Patent number: 5291494
Abstract: The software error handling determines the nature of the fault and takes different action depending upon the nature of the fault. If the fault prevents the data processing system from continued reliable operation, then the element causing the fault is immediately disabled. Otherwise, the element which is the source of the fault is treated so that it does no harm to the system and causes no further faults. The element can then be completely handled during normal software status checks.
