  • Patent number: 9130649
Abstract: A wireless communications system employs code-division multiple access information transmission techniques where the uplink and downlink transmission bandwidths are unequal. The higher bandwidth is an integer multiple of the lower bandwidth. The present system requires a base station and a subscriber unit to have two pseudo-random code generators which can be clocked separately. Alignment of the uplink and downlink pseudo-random spreading codes is achieved by truncating the code sequence for the lower speed link at the conclusion of a complete code sequence for the higher speed link.

  • Patent number: 9125074
Abstract: MU-MIMO and CoMP have potentials to increase the cell capacity by many folds. Interferences and channel feedback overhead, however, severely limits such potentials. Method of reference signal-based grid of beams (RS-GOB) is described. RS-GOB distributes the effective antennas of a base station into multiple beams, thereby significantly reducing the feedback overhead of CoMP and making effective use of CoMP to turn the interferences into cooperating useful signals. RS-GOB also reduces the need for small HetNet cells, which mitigates the interferences of small HetNet cells on macro cells.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program for cooperative transmission are provided. A re-transmitter for a data packet determined as not having been received at a re-ceiver correctly is selected amongst the potentialre-transmitters in a cooperative transmission mode. In more detail, the re-transmitter is selected amongst an original transmitter of the data packet and assisting transmitters configured to assist transmission of the original transmit-ter. The assisting transmitters receive the data packet in the original transmission, unless errors occur in the reception at a given assisting transmitter, and are candidates for the retransmission in case the original transmission results in erroneous reception at the receiver.

  • Patent number: 9100990
Abstract: A wireless mesh network architecture includes a plurality of wireless nodes, with each wireless node in the network is connected to every other wireless node in the network. Each pair of wireless nodes is coupled by a link dedicated to exchange of data by the pair of nodes. The link is characterized by an agreement between two end points of the link to rendezvous for the purposes of exchanging data at a predetermined time over a predetermined channel. Methods of negotiating rendezvous characteristics, such as rendezvous channel, time, frequency, duration and transmission power ensure that the selected link is tuned to minimize interference and power usage in the WN. A handshake mechanism enables high performance data delivery with minimal packet loss. The link based architecture uses Link State Advertisements, traffic tags and spanning trees to fine tune packet flow through divergent devices in the network.

  • Patent number: 9094994
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed involving physical-layer network coding (PNC) atoms as building blocks of PNC networks to solve the scheduling problem in PNC networks using a decomposition framework based on PNC atoms. Ten PNC atoms and their straightforward network coding (SNC) counterparts are disclosed. Performance evaluation results are discussed, which indicate that decomposition based on the ten PNC atoms outperforms the traditional multi-hop (non-NC) scheduling by about 100%. Furthermore, decomposition based on the ten PNC atoms can yield performance gain of 40% or more compared with decomposition based on the TWRC atom alone.

  • Patent number: 9083501
Abstract: Techniques for sending control information relating to multiple downlink carriers and data on a single uplink carrier are described. A user equipment (UE) may be scheduled to transmit on a designated uplink carrier. The UE can multiplex control information for multiple downlink carriers with data for transmission on the uplink carrier in a same subframe. Multiplexing may be performed according to a type of the control information and/or an ordering, priority, or association of the downlink carriers. The UE can selectively encode the control information separately for each downlink carrier and/or jointly across downlink carriers. The control information may be mapped to a single layer or multiple layers of a data channel. The UE may send the multiplexed control information and data on the data channel in the subframe while maintaining a single-carrier waveform.
