  • Patent number: 11300057
Abstract: A gas turbine engine including a fan and an oil pump operatively connected to the fan by a main input drive gear, the drive gear rotating when the fan rotor rotates in either a first or second direction of the fan. Further included is a gear train intermediate the main input drive gear and the oil pump, the gear train including a first and second pinion gear, the first and second pinion gear each driven by the main input drive gear, the first pinion gear driving a first gear through a first clutch, the second pinion gear driving a second gear through a second clutch. Only one of the clutches transmits rotation from the respective pinion gear to the respective gear when the fan is rotating in the first direction, with the only the other clutch transmitting rotation when the fan is rotating in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 11215121
Abstract: A fuel spray nozzle for a gas turbine engine, the fuel spray nozzle arranged to mix fuel and air and provide the mixture to a combustor of the engine and including: a first fuel supply conduit arranged to provide fuel to be mixed with air in a first ratio; a second fuel supply conduit arranged to provide fuel to be mixed with air in a second ratio, having a lower proportion of fuel than the first ratio; and a staging valve arranged to control the relative proportions of fuel provided through the first fuel supply conduit and the second fuel supply conduit, such that an increase or decrease in the flow in the first fuel supply conduit is accompanied by a corresponding decrease or increase in the flow in the second fuel supply conduit.

  • Patent number: 11168886
Abstract: An injector nose for a turbomachine includes a primary fuel circuit terminated by a fuel ejection nozzle defining an injection axis (44), and a secondary fuel circuit (64) comprising a secondary fuel swirler (114) formed of swirler channels (112) opening into a terminal fuel ejection portion (68) of annular shape arranged around the fuel ejection nozzle. Each swirler channel (112) has a passage section which decreases in a direction going from an upstream end (111) to a downstream end (115) of the swirler channel (112). The reduction of the passage section of the swirler channels (112) makes it possible to increase the head loss between the inlet and the outlet of the secondary fuel swirler (114) and thus notably to accelerate the fuel within the secondary fuel swirler, while allowing lower fuel flow rates.

  • Patent number: 11131214
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a gearbox receiving input from a core shaft and driving a fan at a lower speed than the core shaft. First and second oil circuits fluidly couple with an inlet and outlet of the gearbox. A third oil circuit fluidly couples with an inlet and outlet of the gearbox. The outlet of the gearbox includes a device directing oil from the gearbox to the first oil circuit, to the second oil circuit and to the third oil circuit when feeding to the gearbox exceeds a predefined oil flow rate, or deviates an operational value corresponding with that oil flow rate, and directs oil from the gearbox to the third oil circuit when feeding to the gearbox is ? the predefined flow rate or is ? a corresponding operational value or is greater than or equal to a further corresponding operational value.

  • Patent number: 11060729
Abstract: A fuel nozzle assembly and a gas turbine combustor including the same are provided. The fuel nozzle assembly may include an end plate coupled to one end of an annular casing, and a fuel nozzle configured such that one end thereof is supported by the end plate and the other end thereof extends outward. The fuel nozzle may include a center fuel nozzle and a plurality of side fuel nozzles arranged annularly to surround the center fuel nozzle. The side fuel nozzle may include a nozzle body located at a center thereof, a shroud spaced outward from the nozzle body, and a plurality of swirlers located between the nozzle body and the shroud. Each of the swirlers may include a leading edge directed toward the end plate and a trailing edge located opposite the leading edge. In each of the side fuel nozzles, distances between the leading edges are different from each other.
