  • Patent number: 11234527
Abstract: A folding chair includes front and rear supports that fold and/or retract into central beams to reduce the space occupied by the chair in a folded configuration. A backrest is coupled to the central beams with a hub that allows an angle of the backrest relative to the central beams to be selected and for the backrest to be folded flat relative to the central beams. One or more actuators and pin actuators may control the relative movements of the backrest, front support, rear support, and central beams.

  • Patent number: 11229294
Abstract: A seating arrangement includes a base, a seat assembly operably coupled to the base, and a back assembly that includes a substantially rigid back frame including a pair of side portions spaced from one another and extending upward from the base, and a substantially flexible back shell including a front surface and a rear surface opposite the front surface, a plurality of laterally-extending slots that extend between the front surface and the rear surface and that cooperate to define a plurality of laterally-extending ribs therebetween, where a pair of laterally-extending ribs of the plurality of laterally-extending ribs are connected to one another via a vertically-extending rib located at a substantial midpoint across a width of the back shell, and wherein the back shell is coupled to each of the side portions of the back frame at locations above the plurality of laterally-extending slots.

  • Patent number: 11229290
Abstract: A seating unit is provided with a glider linkage and a powered reclining mechanism, supported on a pedestal base. The glider linkage allows the seating unit to move to and fro in a gliding motion when the seating unit is in the closed position. The powered reclining mechanism allows independent operation of the footrest and back recline, utilizing a two-motor design. As the seating unit moves from the closed position to the TV position, with the footrest extended, a locking linkage prevents the glider linkage from moving. Additionally, the locking of the glider linkage provides at least a portion of the change in pitch of the seat. The recliner linkage provides the remaining portion of the change in pitch of the seat as the mechanism moves from the closed to the TV position. Because the back recline is independent from the footrest extension, the back can be at least partially reclined even when the seating unit is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 11229291
Abstract: A chair that provides movement side-to-side about a first pivot axis positioned above the seat plane allows the user a wide range of dynamic movement, but does not require constant or excessive action on the part of the user to maintain a desired position. In addition and concurrently thereto, the structure may include a second pivot that is also positioned above the seat plane and that provides forward-and-back movement of the seat. The first and second pivot axes can be engaged synchronously or independently by the user as desired delivering infinite degrees of angles of movement. Said pivot axes are more closely adjacent to the human body pivot joints and axes. The seat and seat back may be joined together to a central spine frame that moves about the second pivot, thereby maintaining the seatback position and seat position relative to each other during forward-and-back movement of the spine along the second pivot.

  • Patent number: 11219563
Abstract: An adjustable backrest is adapted for a chair frame and includes a first pivoting component, a second pivoting component, a backrest sliding assembly and a backrest connecting component. The second pivoting component is pivoted to the first pivoting component. The backrest sliding assembly is slidably disposed on the first pivoting component. The backrest connecting component is disposed between the first pivoting component and the second pivoting component. A first end of the backrest connecting component is pivoted to the backrest sliding assembly. A second end of the backrest connecting component is pivoted to the second pivoting component. The backrest sliding assembly drives the second pivoting component to pivot relative to the first pivoting component by the backrest connecting component when the at least one backrest sliding assembly slides relative to the first pivoting component, so as to support a user's back portion at different angles.

  • Patent number: 11191361
Abstract: A mechanism for adjusting vertical seat position using a single extremity and requires no user weight to lower. The mechanism features a seat with an integrated grip for lifting. A spring-loaded latch obstructs the teeth to prevent seat lowering without rotation of a handle. The latch pivots out from obstructing the teeth when lifted. To lower the user rotates the handle to disengage the latch, causing the seat to lower under its own weight. At the desired height, the user releases the handle to permit the latch to obstruct downward movement. A gas spring may counter-balance to reduce overall effective seat weight, making the seat easier to lift while still allowing the seat to lower under its own weight upon rotating the handle. The mechanism for horizontal adjustment couples to the handle, which displaces a cable that disengages a pin allowing the seat to move horizontally on a track.

  • Patent number: 11192652
Abstract: A dress cover installable over a seatback of a passenger seat and having an integrated adjustable lumbar support device is disclosed. In embodiments, the dress cover includes a fabric outer shell and a seat cushion within the outer shell. The lumbar support device is disposed inside a pocket set into the dress cover and corresponding to the lumbar area of the seat occupant. The pocket extends laterally between left-side and right-side slots, each slot held closed by a zipper within which a slider tracks up and down to adjust the lumbar support device. As the slider tracks along the zipper it opens and closes the zipper within the body of the slider, maintaining its slot in a closed configuration. By adjusting the sliders up or down, the occupant may adjust the position of the lumbar support device through the dress cover.

  • Patent number: 11185165
Abstract: An armchair includes a base, a backrest pivotally connected to the base by a first rotating shaft, an armrest connected to the base and an elastic assembly fixed on the armrest. The backrest and the elastic assembly are pivotally connected by a second rotating shaft. The elastic assembly is configured to provide elastic force when the backrest swings around the first rotating shaft. The elastic assembly arranged between the backrest and the armrest permits the backrest to be able to swing relative to the base. In use, the elastic assembly controls the swing amplitude of the backrest according to the pressure exerted by the user's back on the backrest. When the user reclines backward, the elastic assembly acts as a cushion to support the backrest to slowly swing backward due to the elastic force. When the user rises, the elastic force of the elastic assembly urges the backrest to reset.
