  • Patent number: 4706790
Abstract: The net engagement pressure of a torque converter clutch having a negative slope capacity vs. slip characteristic is controlled to stably regulate the clutch slip, and thereby isolate engine torque perturbations from the vehicle driveline. The pressure is scheduled with a proportional term responsive to transient slip speed deviations and an integral term responsive to steady state slip speed deviations. Feed forward terms responsive to the throttle changes which force steady state slip speed deviations act to increase the speed of response of the integral term.

  • Patent number: 4269072
Abstract: A flexure assembly for a dynamically-tuned, free rotor, two axis gyroscopic sensor wherein coplanar, concentric, cylindrical inner and outer gimbals are coupled between corresponding cylindrical axially spaced, inner and outer cylindrical members, to which are secured respectively the gyroscopic rotor and the rotor spin shaft, by means of flexures which provide substantially rigid axial and radial support of the rotor relative to the drive shaft and relative angular freedom of tilt of the rotor about orthogonal axes perpendicular to the drive shaft axis, wherein the flexures comprise separate thin strips fabricated from high-strength, spring-quality sheet metal which bridge gaps formed between the gimbal members and the rotor and rotor shaft members and are secured at their ends as by brazing, welding, cementing, etc. in receiving slits machined in these members.

  • Patent number: 4240301
Abstract: A system which utilizes a free gyro motor drive circuit to control the sp and rotational direction of a gyro motor. The free gyro motor drive circuit includes a first sensing means for generating a up-down sinusoidal position signal and a second sensing means for generating a right-left sinusoidal position signal, both sinusoidal position signals having a frequency corresponding to the rotational speed of the gyro motor. A direct current error signal is fed into a first speed control circuit means along with the up-down sinusoidal position signal to produce an up-down motor control signal. Similarly, the direct current error signal is fed into a second speed control circuit means along with the right-left sinusoidal position signal to produce a right-left motor control signal. The up-down motor control signal drives a pair of up-down motor coils in the free gyro motor, and the right-left motor control signal drives a pair of right-left motor coils in the free gyro motor.
