  • Patent number: 7106845
Abstract: Rather than employing simple static personal identification numbers (PINs) that are susceptible to hacking, the disclosed security system provides multiple levels of security that may be selected by a user, based on his or her particular level of sensitivity at any given time or with respect to any given data. One level employs an algorithm that changes values, where the algorithm is known by the user. For example, the algorithm may be a series of digits based on the following: hour of day, day of week, quarter of the year, a.m. or p.m., day of the month, and month of the year. If the user knows the order of such, the user can readily generate the appropriate numeric code corresponding to the current time, and since the time continually changes, the code necessarily changes likewise. Another level sends a random part to a user, such as over their pager or phone, which they append to some user-defined, fixed portion of their PIN, or used in addition to their PIN.

  • Patent number: 6954518
Abstract: An IP telephony gateway and a voice mail resource enable a voice mail subscriber to place an outgoing call to a destination party from a voice mail session according to the voice over IP (H.323) protocol, and resume the voice mail session upon completion of the outgoing call with the destination party. The IP telephony gateway establishes a voice mail session for the voice mail subscriber with the voice mail resource across a first Real Time Protocol (RTP) data stream. The voice mail resource initiates a second RTP data stream to a destination party in response to reception of a prescribed command from the voice mail subscriber. Although an RTP bridge connecting the first and second RTP data streams can be maintained by the voice mail resource, the voice mail resource may also use the Empty Capability Set feature in the H.323 standard to cause the IP telephony gateway to close the first and second RTP data streams to the voice mail resource.

  • Patent number: RE47792
Abstract: A digital broadcast system including a broadcast receiving system and data processing method are disclosed. In the broadcast receiving system receiving broadcast signals, the broadcast receiving system includes a transmission parameter decoding unit, a known sequence detector, and a burst controller. The transmission parameter decoding unit detects information on a burst of a received signal from broadcast data having main service data and mobile service data multiplexed therein within a field of the received signal and outputs the detected information on the burst. The known sequence detector receives burst information from the transmission parameter decoding unit and uses the received burst information and known data position information included in the received data, so as to output burst control information. The burst controller uses the burst control information to control power supply of the broadcast receiving system.

  • Patent number: RE48821
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for protecting network resources, particularly in association with automatic provisioning of new client devices. A global PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) scheme is rooted at a globally available server. Roots of PKIs for individual organizations also reside at this server or another globally available resource. To enable access to an organization's network, one or more authenticators are deployed, which may be co-located with access points or other network components. After a client device enabler (CDE) and an authenticator perform mutual authentication with certificates issued within the global PKI, the CDE is used to provision a new client device for the organization. After the client is provisioned, it and an authenticator use certificates issued within the per-organization PKI to allow the client access to the network.

  • Patent number: RE48952
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a recording medium controller includes a recording medium, an input module, a reading module, and a writing module. The recording medium includes a write area and an escape area. The write area includes track groups. Each of the track groups is a unit for writing data and includes tracks. The input module receives a write command for data. The reading module reads data stored in the escape area and data from a first track group of the track groups. The writing module writes data received for the write command to the escape area, and writes merged data obtained by merging the data read from the escape area and the data read from the first track group to each track of a second track group of the track groups by using a shingle recording technique in which adjacent tracks are partly overlapped with each other.

  • Patent number: RE49000
Abstract: A ten-frequency band antenna includes a carrier, a high-frequency segment, a low-frequency segment, a printed circuit board (PCB) and an inductor. The high-frequency segment is arranged on left side of the carrier and the low-frequency segment is arranged on right side of the carrier. The radiator on the bottom face of the carrier electrically connects with the micro strip of the PCB and the ground line of the ground metal when the carrier is fixed to the PCB. The low-frequency segment is located at an opened area and corresponding to a metal face with smaller area such that the low-frequency segment is at a free space to enhance the frequency response of the low-frequency segment and the bandwidth of the high-frequency segment. The area and the volume of blind hole on the carrier can adjust the effective dielectric constant to adjust the resonant frequency and bandwidth of the antenna.

  • Patent number: RE49054
Abstract: A telecommunications addressing system/method allowing selection of a telephone instrument device (TID) using arbitrary identifiers is disclosed. The system/method allows a source TID (STD) to select a target TID (TTD) by the use of a Target Telephone Identifier (TTI) data string rather than a traditional numeric telephone identification (NTI). This TTI is then indexed within a TTI/NTI mapping server (TMS) that functions as a hierarchical repository of TTI/NTI mappings. STD/TTD communication is established by first performing a lookup of the STD-selected TTI within the TMS to identify the NTI of the TTD. Once the NTI of the STD has been identified by the TMS, communication between the STD and TTD is established using the NTI via the normal public switched telephone network (PSTN). TMS TTI lookup may be performed via STD TID web application and/or via PSTN infrastructure interface.
