Abstract: The present disclosure relates to processing operations configured to efficiently enable a client and a server to establish secure communication upon initial connection between the client and the server. Upon initial connection to with the server, the client provides an encrypted token which serves as both proof of authentication/identity and provides, in the encrypted token, an encryption key that the server can utilize to initiate secure communication with the client. The server is able to trust the encrypted token and the encryption key because the encrypted token is signed and encrypted by an authentication service that has a trusted relationship with the server and because the authentication service has pre-shared decryption and signature verification keys with the server. The server utilizes the encrypted key to secure communications with the client without requiring additional processing to lookup client identity or any further intervention from the authentication service.

In one embodiment a multi-user computer-controlled video gaming system comprising: at least one display device for displaying video game motion pictures to the plurality of users; a plurality of user input devices, at least one for each user, providing user input data to the computer-controlled video gaming system; a processing unit receiving and processing the user input data from the plurality of input devices to generate control input data for a conjointly control of at least one game mechanic of the performed game; at least one computing device executing a game software application for performing said game, the at least one computing device being controlled by said control input data for providing output to the display device to display the video game motion pictures dependent on said at least one conjointly controlled game mechanic.

Abstract: A liquid crystal lens drive circuit for a pair of spectacles has user-controllable components which can be used to adjust a response time of the circuit to changes in ambient light and to adjust the particular response of the circuit to excess light above a threshold in accordance with a desired response characteristic. Momentary changes in the light level from the general ambient can be prevented from changing the optical density of the lenses unnecessarily, and individual preferences as to the darkening characteristics can be accommodated in a standard pair of spectacles.

Abstract: A computer pointer is disclosed comprised of a housing having an aperture and a ball rollably mounted within the housing so that a portion of the ball is accessible through the aperture in the housing so that force can be exerted on the ball through the aperture to induce the ball to rotate within the housing. The pointer is further comprised of at least one rotating position member having an outer surface, the at least one rotating position member being mounted within the housing and frictionally engaged on a first side with the ball so that rolling motion of the ball results in corresponding rotation of the at least one rotating position member.
