  • Patent number: 6350041
Abstract: The invention provides a new solid state lamp emitting a light useful for room illumination and other applications. It comprises a solid state Light Source which transmits light through a Separator to a Disperser that disperses the light in a desired pattern and/or changes its color. In one embodiment, the Light Source is a blue emitting LED operating with current high enough for room illumination, the Separator is a light pipe or fiber optic device, and the Disperser disperses the light radially and converts some of the blue light to yellow to produce a white light mixture. The Separator spaces the Light Source a sufficient distance from the Disperser such that heat from the Light Source will not transfer to the Disperser when the Light Source is carrying elevated currents necessary for room illumination.

  • Patent number: 6322230
Abstract: The invention is a temporary or emergency lighting system constituted by a bearing structure (2) made of flexible plastic material and having one or more light sources (4) at its top and a support base (1) at its bottom. The structure, which is kept constantly inflated by means of a fan (6), is constituted by one or more superimposed cylinders or cones that are internally divided in sections (2, 1) in order to ensure the progressive and vertical inflation of the structure. The structure can be folded in order to reduce the dimensions of the system as much as possible when it is closed and to make it possible to carry it on the shoulders. The light source is fixed or provided with a rotary mirror (8), in such a way as to direct or rotate the light beam. Some cords or tensioning elements (3) are provided on the structure to limit the height of the bearing structure. The power supply to fans, various functions and/or light source can be guaranteed through a current generator, the power mains or batteries.

  • Patent number: 6318875
Abstract: An illuminating nut driver system comprises a hollow torque handle, the proximal end being hollow and having threads on its interior, and the distal end having an opening with a key way therein. A cylindrical nut driver at a first end and a key member at a second end are both integral with a hollow nut driver shaft. The key member is configured for coupling with the key way of the handle for being locked against rotation. A detachable lamp/laser module is removably positionable within the handle from the proximal end with threads on the proximal end coupleable with the handle. A lamp chamber is positioned within the module facing the distal end of the handle. A lamp is detachable mounted within the lamp chamber. A laser generator is positioned adjacent to the lamp at the distal end of the module. • Patent number: 6318872
Abstract: A meter for a vehicle has a dial, a light transmitting ring member surrounding the dial, a lamp disposed at a rear side of the dial/ring member and an orange-colored layer disposed between the dial/ring member and the lamp. A surface of the ring member is covered by a silver paint layer except a front surface thereof. When the lamp is lit, light emitted from the lamp enters the orange layer, and the orange layer emits orange-colored light. The orange light enters the ring member and is emitted from the front face thereof, whereby the front face is illuminated by orange light and appears orange color. When the lamp is turned off, the silver paint layer becomes visible through the front face, whereby the front face appears silver color. Therefore, the meter looks novel and original due to the ring member.

  • Patent number: 6318885
Abstract: A method and system for condensing and collecting electromagnetic radiation comprised generally of a radiation source, a reflector and a target is disclosed. The reflector has a reflecting surface for reflecting the radiation from the source which is in the shape of a cut out portion of an ellipsoid. The reflector surface has a substantially ellipsoidal curvature which is concave relative to both the target and the source, and which has a major axis, a minor axis, and a first and second focal points. The system of the present invention redirects radiation emitted from the source, located near the first focal point of the ellipsoid, to produce a magnified image of the source at the target, located near the second focal point of the ellipsoid. To acheive this spot size magnification, the ellipsoidal reflector surface comprises a portion of an ellipsoid which lies between the major and minor axes of the ellipsoid.

  • Patent number: 6312144
Abstract: A method and system for condensing and collecting electromagnetic radiation onto a target surface comprised generally of a radiation source, a primary reflector and a retro-reflector having a shape complementary to the shape of the primary reflector is disclosed. The primary reflector has a reflecting surface for reflecting the radiation from the source which is substantially concave in shape. The radiation source emits substantially uniform radiation flux in substantially all directions which is collected by the primary reflector and redirected toward the target surface. The retro-reflector, having a complementary shape which depends upon the shape of the primary reflector, is positioned so as to intercept a portion of the radiation redirected toward the target surface. The retro-reflector reflects the intercepted portion of the radiation back toward said primary reflector along the same path such that the redirected radiation is channeled back through the source.
