  • Patent number: 11601677
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for image data encoding/decoding. A method of decoding an image includes receiving a bitstream in which the image is encoded; obtaining index information for specifying a block division type of a current block in the image; and determining the block division type of the current block from a candidate group pre-defined in the decoding apparatus. The candidate group includes a plurality of candidate division types, including at least one of a non-division, a first quad-division, a second quad-division, a binary-division or a triple-division. The method also includes dividing the current block into a plurality of sub-blocks; and decoding each of the sub-blocks with reference to syntax information obtained from the bitstream.

  • Patent number: 11587268
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for generating a three-dimensional reconstruction of an object with reduced distortion are described. In some aspects, a system includes at least two image sensors, at least two projectors, and a processor. Each image sensor is configured to capture one or more images of an object. Each projector is configured to illuminate the object with an associated optical pattern and from a different perspective. The processor is configured to perform the acts of receiving, from each image sensor, for each projector, images of the object illuminated with the associated optical pattern and generating, from the received images, a three-dimensional reconstruction of the object. The three-dimensional reconstruction has reduced distortion due to the received images of the object being generated when each projector illuminates the object with an associated optical pattern from the different perspective.

  • Patent number: 11580484
Abstract: The technology relates to cargo vehicles. National, regional and/or local regulations set requirements for operating cargo vehicles, including how to distribute and secure cargo, and how often the cargo should be inspected during a trip. However, such regulations have been focused on traditional human-driven vehicles. Aspects of the technology address various issues involved with securement and inspection of cargo before a trip, as well as monitoring during the trip so that corrective action may be taken as warranted. For instance, imagery and other sensor information may be used to enable proper securement of cargo before starting a trip. Onboard sensors along the vehicle monitor the cargo and securement devices/systems during the trip to identify issues as they arise. Such information is used by the onboard autonomous driving system (or a human driver) to take corrective action depending on the nature of the issue.

  • Patent number: 11553196
Abstract: A user of a storage system can upload files for a media asset, which can include a high quality media file and various related files. As part of the upload process, the storage system can extract metadata that describes the media asset. The user can specify one or more lifecycle policies to be applied for storage of the asset, and a rules engine can ensure the application of the one or more policies. The rules engine can also enable the use of simple media processing workflows. A filename hashing approach can be used to ensure that the segments and files for the asset are stored in a relatively random and even distribution across the partitions of the storage system. As part of the lifecycle for the asset, the high quality media file can be moved to less expensive storage once transcoding of the asset or another such action occurs.

  • Patent number: 11546505
Abstract: Example systems, devices, media, and methods are described for capturing still images in response to hand gestures detected by an eyewear device that is capturing frames of video data with its camera system. A localization system determines the eyewear location relative to the physical environment. An image processing system detects a hand shape in the video data and determines whether the detected hand shape matches a border gesture or a shutter gesture. In response to a border gesture, the system establishes a border that defines the still image to be captured. In response to a shutter gesture, the system captures a still image from the frames of video data. The system determines a shutter gesture location relative to the physical environment. The captured still image is presented on the display at or near the shutter gesture location, such that the still image appears anchored relative to the physical environment.

  • Patent number: 11539931
Abstract: Improved techniques for generating images are disclosed herein. A first image is generated by an integrated camera. The pose of the computer system is determined based on the image, and a timestamp is determined. A detached camera generates a second image. The second image is aligned with the first image. An overlaid image is generated by overlaying the second image onto the first image based on the alignment. A pose difference is then identified between a current pose of the computer and the initial pose. Consequently, late stage reprojection (LSR) is performed on the overlaid image to account for the pose difference. The LSR-corrected overlaid image is then displayed.

  • Patent number: 11477461
Abstract: An original input video file is encoded using a machine learning approach. The encoder performs a detailed video analysis and selection of encoding parameters that using a machine learning algorithm improves over time. The encoding process is done using a multi-pass approach. During a first pass, the entire video file is scanned to extract video property information that does not require in-depth analyses. The extracted data is then entered into an encoding engine, which uses artificial intelligence to produce optimized encoder settings. The video file is into a set of time-based chunks and, in a second pass, the encoding parameters for each chunk are set and distributed to encoding nodes for parallel processing. These encoder instances probe-encode each chunk determine the level of complexity for the chunk and to derive chunk-specific encoding parameters.
