Abstract: The invention herein described relates to a fruit picking device of the pole-type employing a manually operable hydraulic master assembly to operate a cutting assembly for severing the fruit with its stem and receiving said severed fruit in a net provided therewith. A pole attachment is secured at the end of said pole and a rim having a net is secured to said attachment for an angular adjustment with respect to the pole axis. The hydraulically operated cutting assembly is secured to said rim.

Abstract: Sugar cane harvester has stick alignment device mounted at forward end of harvester crop feed passage to promote longitudinal alignment of canes with said passage. The device comprises an arm mounted centrally in the passage and carrying driven sprockets and a chain. Cane stick engaging bars project from the chain to comb cane sticks into alignment with the passage.

Abstract: A bearing for an air driven turbine operated dental handpiece of the type including a turbine rotor provided in a casing and having blade elements coupled to a shaft member. The bearing includes a first air bearing formed circumferentially about the shaft member, a second air bearing including a small gap formed between the end of the shaft and an inside surface of the casing and a means for introducing compressed air into the small gap and a pair of opposed magnets of the same polarity provided respectively in the end of the shaft member and the inside surface of the casing whereby the axial load on the turbine rotor is resisted not only by the second air bearing but also by the magnetic repulsive force of the magnets.

Abstract: An improved drive mechanism and support arrangement for an agitator device used for preventing an accumulation of straw or the like on the upper outer peripheral surface of a screen-like cylindrical cylinder cage surrounding an axial flow threshing cylinder which rotates within the screen-like cage. The agitator device comprises a "main beam" which extends axially of and in overlying relation to the upper outer peripheral surface of the cylinder cage. A plurality of arcuate scraper fingers are mounted on and move with the "main beam" and extend in contiguous overlying relation to the outer periphery of the cylinder cage. A carriage member secured to the agitator device is mounted for sliding movement on a pair of horizontal guide rails. Reciprocating movement is imparted to the slidable carriage and to the agitator device by an endless drive chain which is driven at a constant speed and with a continuous motion.

Abstract: A sugar cane harvester has power-rotated rollers to convey severed cane sticks between stick-serving base cutters and stick dividing choppers. The rollers extend across the path of the cane sticks and at least one of the rollers below the cane path has stick-engaging paddles of differing radial lengths whereby the cane sticks are shaken up and down to dislodge earth mixed with the mat of cane sticks.

Abstract: A warning device for a lawn mower having a rotary blade driven from a motor through a centrifugal clutch and normally held stopped by a brake which is released by a deadman control. A clicker arm is pivoted to the clutch driver and spring-pressed toward engagement with the driven clutch drum so as to repeatedly strike a notch therein and sound a warning in the event the motor stops and thereby stops the driving clutch element while the brake is disengaged and allows the blade to spin from its own momentum. A centrifugal weight connected to the clicker arm retracts it when the clutch drive is operating normally.

Abstract: A lawn mower with catcher accommodation and having a mower housing and a rear portion on the housing extending along an upright plane transverse to the mower central axis. A handle is attached to the housing and extends rearwardly therefrom and the housing has a grass clipping discharge opening directed to the rear on the mower and to one side of the central axis. The mower has a vertically mounted hinged door extending over the discharge opening and being swingable to an open position and against a spring. A grass catcher can be mounted on the mower and it has an adapter abutting the mower and in contact with the spring-urged door which secures the catcher on the mower. The mower door has an impact panel therein for engaging the materials blown and thrown by the mower and against the door when the door is closed.

Abstract: A cutting assembly usable in combination with a primary drive power source such as an internal combustion engine on a lawn mower, tractor or like assembly or alternately, an electrically powered hand tool or like element whereby a plurality of cutting elements defining a cutting head are remotely extendable from the power source by means of a drive cable element drivingly interconnected, through a power take-off, to the drive power source. A gear adjustment assembly is disposed in power transmitting relation between the power drive source and the plurality of cutting elements so as to regulate the rotational speed of the cutting elements during operation.

The cylinder includes a hollow cylindrical body having a leading end and a trailing end, the center of gravity of the cylindrical body being located relatively toward the leading end. The cylinder is adapted to be propelled through the air with axial spin. A boundary layer tripping mechanism is located circumferentially around the exterior surface of the leading end of the cylindrical body. This mechanism provides the cylinder with a turbulent boundary layer as it is propelled through the air to reduce drag and improve the flying characteristics of the cylinder.

Abstract: This invention relates to improvements in the manufacture of devices applicable to dolls that simulate physiological functions. On exerting pressure on a tank of water situated in the interior of the doll, a tube which commences in the interior of the tank below the level of the water, conducts a small flow of the said water towards the interior of the mouth of the doll and surrounding areas, although in a position in the mouth in front of a second tube which commences in the interior of the tank and in the area not occupied by water, with the purpose that the same pressure should originate a current of air which, on emerging adjacent to the first tube and also in the interior of the mouth, causes the creation of small bubbles and the outlet of small amounts of water that simulate the dribbling of the doll and because a third tube for filling the tank also commences in the interior of the mouth of the doll so that on placing a bottle of water into the mouth the filling of the tank is produced.
