  • Patent number: 4195644
Abstract: A stone guard for use with a harvester or combine of the type having a rotatable threshing cylinder and a concave lying contiguous and radially outwardly of the threshing cylinder whereby grain is threshed from a crop fed by a feeder means to the interspace between the threshing cylinder and the concave. A stone guard door is interposed in the crop flow path between the feeder means and the interspace between the threshing cylinder and the concave. The stone guard door comprises a main body portion which is pivotally connected to stationary combine structure contiguous the discharge end of the feeder means, and a lip portion hingedly connected to the main body portion. A detent means carried by the stone guard door normally maintains the lip poriton rigid with respect to the main body portion. The lip portion normally rests on the forward edge of the concave when the detent means is engaged, whereby to maintain the stone guard door in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4193222
Abstract: A swingable toy for creating audible vibratory noises and concentric circles of light. First and second elongate end pieces are perpendicularly secured at opposite ends of a tubular central body portion. Noise-emitting vibratory rubber bands are disposed in a parallel and spaced apart relationship between slots disposed in the first and second end pieces. A stabilizing fin is secured to the tubular body portion in a plane perpendicular to that defined by the rubber bands for maintaining the rubber bands in perpendicular relationship to another plane defined by the swinging orbit for maximum vibratory excitement of the rubber bands. A cord is attached to one end of the tubular body through a metal eyelet and a low friction ball bearing is disposed in the cord to relieve twisting of the cord during swinging of the toy for maintaining the rubber bands in a plane perpendicular to that of the swinging orbit.

  • Patent number: 4192386
Abstract: A roll conveyor having paired counter-rotating grab rolls includes a reversing roll section on one grab roll for discharging material conveyed along it perpendicularly to the axes of rotation of the paired rolls. One roll of each pair is composed of separate conveying and discharge or reversing sections that are rotatable about a common axes and in opposing directions. The reversing section is provided at one end of the roll conveyor and cooperates with the other rolls at that end to tumble material transversely from the conveyor. The non-reversing rolls adjacent the reversing section are further provided with helical flightings of opposite hand that meet midway along the reversing section to gather material for sideways discharge.

  • Patent number: 4192123
Abstract: Tractor-drawn agricultural mower has three crop-cutting rotors rotatable about vertical axes and carrying crop-feeding drums. Two of the rotors contra-rotate inwards to feed cut crop between them. The third rotor is offset rearwards from a straight line intersecting the axes of rotation of the other two rotors and rotates in the same direction as the rotor adjacent it so that the crop which it cuts passes behind the adjacent rotor and towards the crop which has passed between the other two rotors, whereby a single swath of crop is produced by the mower.

  • Patent number: 4192071
Abstract: A dental appliance for evacuating debris and liquid from the mouth during dental operations having a collector member and a resilient collector membrane. The collector member has a semirigid bite block portion adapted to be gripped by the molars of the patient on one or the other side of the mouth with the bite block deforming upon the initial bite of the patient so as to form a mode thereof for secure placement within the patient's mouth and which bite block portion resists further deformation permitting the patient to exert substantial pressure on the bite block portion. The collector also has a combination tongue guard and collector membrane holder formed integrally therewith. The bottom surface of the combination tongue guard and collector membrane holder is contoured to substantially conform to the inner curvature of the patient's lower arches. The combination tongue guard and collector membrane holder also has a slot therein which forms a first and a second foot member on the opposite sides of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4192124
Abstract: A tobacco harvester comprises a pair of counter rotating defoliators overlying a pair of opposing spaced apart lateral transfer conveyors for conveying picked leaves outwardly from under the defoliators. A pair of belts are driven in opposite directions, portions of which oppose and are spaced apart from one another along opposing portions of the pair of lateral conveyors. The belt spacing is such to allow tobacco plant stalks to pass therebetween as opposing belt portions engage and support tobacco plant stalks. Side conveyors receive picked leaves from the pair of lateral transfer conveyors. The speed drives are arranged so that the rotary speed of the rotating defoliators, the conveying speed of the lateral conveyors, the conveying speed of the side conveyors and the linear speed of the belts are independently adjustable of one another. A pair of speed indicators may be provided to visually indicate the respective speeds of the picking rate of the defoliators and the ground speed of the harvester.

  • Patent number: 4191007
Abstract: An improved shield member for directing the grass clippings cut by a reel-type mower into a grass catcher. The shield member encompasses a portion of the circumference of the reel from the side of the reel opposite the grass catcher and has an inner surface spaced apart from the reel to define a cut clipping discharge passageway. A cut-off bar is mounted to the shield member and extends inwardly from its inner surface toward the reel and functions to direct grass clippings or mats of grass that tend to adhere to the inner surface of the shield member into the path of the cutting reel blades whereby the grass clippings or grass clumps are struck by the cutting blades and sufficient velocity is imparted to the grass to project the grass in a desired trajectory into the grass catcher position forwardly of the cutting reel.
