  • Patent number: 8595929
Abstract: A composition and method for cleaning turbine engine components (10) during servicing. An embodiment of the invention includes a colloidal mixture or slurry (22) of nanoparticles. The slurry may be nontoxic and provide optimal cleaning of tiny surface-exposed crevices (18) of braze joints and components. When a colloidal mixture is in a polar solvent, the pH of the slurry is maintained at about 5 to 9 and at the isoelectric point of the nanoparticles to minimize or prevent agglomeration. When a colloidal mixture is in a nonpolar solvent, the pH of the slurry is maintained at about 5 to 9 and at the isoelectric point of the nanoparticles to minimize or prevent agglomeration by use of surfactant additives.

  • Patent number: 8590132
Abstract: A method for producing a fuel container and a fuel container for motor vehicles. The method comprises the extrusion of web-type preforms, the shaping of the preforms to form shell-shaped intermediate products in a first step, and forming a container in the same molding tool in a second step, at least one tank-filling and/or operational venting device being fastened to the inner wall of at least one intermediate product between the first and second steps by a material and/or form-fitting joint in one work cycle, the wall of the intermediate product being penetrated by a connection fitting during assembly, with a use of at least one conduit section of variable length as a part of a vent line.

  • Patent number: 8590161
Abstract: Break away panels, devices and methods of using the breakaway panels with grid scored patterns for fire extinguisher cabinets which can be made for small, mid-size and large size fire extinguisher cabinets, and easily resized when needed. Three novel panels each having novel vertical and horizontal scored lines running throughout the panels and be located on the inside surface of the installed panels. An installer can easily break off upper and/or lower and/or side edges of the panels in order to resize the panel to fit almost any size fire extinguisher cabinet. The scoring lines can be accomplished by a router. Alternatively, the entire panel and the scored lines can be formed from injection molding.

  • Patent number: 8590150
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of joining a hub 11 and a shroud 12 of an impeller 10, either one of which has blades 13 integrally formed thereon, by welding. During the welding, in an upright state in which the hub 11 is placed to face a mount surface, the hub 11 and the shroud 12 are placed on top of each other to form an assembled body 10. Welding is performed on the assembled body 10 covered with a heat insulating jacket 30(a to g), the jacket 30 covering the assembled body 10 except an open region (OP) and an inflow port 14IN required for welding. When welding of one open region OP is completed, a new open region OP is formed by moving the heat insulating jacket 30 with respect to the assembled body, and then the next welding is performed.

  • Patent number: 8590152
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a member for purifying exhaust gas for an automobile exhaust line, including an enclosure, an exhaust gas purification unit arranged in the enclosure, and at least one element for supporting the unit. The method includes the following steps: obtaining a first quantity representative of a mass (Mb) of the exhaust gas purification unit; using at least the first quantity obtained, determining an installation density (dmounted) of the or each support element; determining at least one diameter (Denclosure) of the enclosure as a function of the determined installation density (dmounted); assembling the enclosure, the support element(s) and the gas purification unit, so as to obtain the diameter that was determined for the enclosure and the installation density (dmounted) that was determined for the support element(s).

  • Patent number: 8572829
Abstract: An apparatus and respective method for replacing a damaged center console hinge system. Initially, a portion of each of the original hinges is removed, leaving a portion of each base to form a respective registration section. A first hinge replacement member is placed over the first registration OEM hinge section. The first replacement hinge pin is inserted into a hinge receptacle of the OEM armrest cover. A pin of a second replacement hinge member is subsequently inserted into the opposing hinge hole in the OEM armrest cover and the replacement member is placed over the second registration OEM hinge section. Threaded fasteners, adhesive, or any other mechanical fastener are then used to secure the replacement hinge assembly to the center console.

  • Patent number: 8561297
Abstract: Provided is a method for producing an engine valve by subjecting a stem portion having a hollow part to a drawing treatment using a series of dies such that the outer diameter and inner diameter of the stem portion become smaller in steps and the stem portion is thereby molded to the desired size, whereby, after the stem portion has been subjected to the drawing treatment until the inner diameter of the hollow part of the stem portion has reached a specific size, sodium metal in the form of a solid block is introduced to the hollow part of the stem portion, and a protective agent made from solid paraffin or naphthalene is also introduced to the hollow part of the stem portion such as to form a barrier between the sodium metal and the atmosphere, after which the stem portion is further subjected to a cold drawing treatment.

  • Patent number: 8438733
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a coil spring using a helicoid reduction mill includes supplying a coil spring material linearly unrolled by a prestraightener to a surface treatment machine and then short-blasting or scarfing its outer surface to surface-treat the coil spring material; primarily heating the surface-treated coil spring material to a predetermined temperature using a first heater; sequentially supplying and pressurizing the primarily-heated coil spring material in a stepwise fashion such that the coil spring material has the same diameter as that of a coil spring to be manufactured; measuring the diameter and the length of the coil spring material and then cutting the coil spring material to a desired size; secondarily heating the cut coil spring material to a predetermined temperature using a second heater; forming the secondarily heated coil spring material into a coil spring using a coiling machine; and oil-quenching and then tempering the formed coil spring.
