  • Patent number: 12160540
Abstract: An electronic device, method, and computer program product expedite authentication of a user by capturing a palmprint, without necessarily requiring a dedicated user action. The electronic device monitors for detection of an image via a palmprint scanner, positioned by a translation mechanism, in response to identifying a requirement to authenticate the user. The translation mechanism slides a blade assembly relative to the device housing between extended and retracted positions. The blade assembly includes a blade, a flexible display, and the palmprint scanner sized to cover at least a portion of a back side of the device housing for receiving the palmprint while the blade assembly is at least in the retracted position. The electronic device authenticates the user in response to identifying a palmprint in the image corresponding to an authorized user and presents visual content via the flexible display positioned on a front side of the display housing.

  • Patent number: 12153739
Abstract: A gesture-recognition (GR) device is disclosed that includes a capacitive touch sensor panel and a controller. The capacitive touch sensor panel comprises a plurality of sensing pads arranged in a cylindrical pattern inside a handle of the GR device and detects a multi-factor touch assertion at a set of sensing pads of the plurality of sensing pads. The controller transmits a driving signal to each of the plurality of sensing pads for the detection of the multi-factor touch assertion, generates an assertion signal, determines a signal sequence based on the assertion signal, and converts a current inactive state of the GR device to an active state based on a validation of the determined signal sequence corresponding to the multi-factor touch assertion and an inferred user intent.

  • Patent number: 12147034
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for interaction between a user and a machine. In one implementation, a system is provided that receives an input from a user of a mobile machine which indicates or describes an object in the world. In one example, the user may gesture to the object which is detected by a visual sensor. In another example, the user may verbally describe the object which is detected by an audio sensor. The system receiving the input may then determine which object near the location of the user that the user is indicating. Such a determination may include utilizing known objects near the geographic location of the user or the autonomous or mobile machine.
